I went along to the Domain Focus event, saw some friends I already knew there and hopefully some pals of the future.
It really opened my eyes, as I don't think of myself as a domainer (though do think of myself as a search engine spammer) and after a kick up the arse from Doug this weekend just gone in Manchester (a small 50 odd people, freebie SEO get together) decided to show my face in here to learn more about the industry and say hello.
So hello everyone
I know there has been some "discussion" about the DF event but as an outsider looking in, it was a real eye opener for me and some huge things stood out for me.
1stly there are some great people who are at the coalface of domaining in the UK. I don't mean the big boys such as Dan etc (however nice he is) but ordinary down to earth blokes who are garnering domains and have built or are loking to build a long term business / investment with their domain equity.
2ndly the industry is hugely experienced and mature in certain areas but so immature in others. It reminds me a lot of the search business a few years ago and it is this that excites me.
It isn't quite the wild wild west but more akin to a busy summertime in Cornwall. West? for sure, just with a British slant and charm and not so wild
I hope to be more of a regular here and look to build some new relationships and take a lot of the discussions I had at DF forward to hopefully mutual benefit. And if these things don't happen, well most of all I hope new friendships are forged
I look forward to chatting with you all.
Thanks
Jason
