Hi Guys

What interesting new products have you seen lately?

The coolest thing I have seen lately is the Magic Leap mixed reality demo, but you can't buy that yet.

Rgds

iphone 7 .... the jump in technology compared to other phones is amazing

I also saw the NWZ-WS610 waterproof Sony Walkman, ideal for the pool or running.

Don't really see why removing the headphone jack is a big deal to be honest. The wireless headphones are ridiculous, but I've got no problem with switching to a proprietary connector if it makes a phone thinner/lighter/more waterproof.

2 reasons. 1. It doesnt. 2. You cannot charge your phone and listen to music at the same time (using the adaptor).

Do you tend to listen to music on your phone when you're charging it? I only really charge the phone at night, at home.

Maybe they just think they do, who knows. Apple don't tend to make moves like this without the stats to back it up.

Compared to what other phones ? I'm wondering what I missed.

Yes, perhaps he's referring to the courageous removal of the headphone jack...muppets. Steve Jobs must be turning in his grave.

haha apologies I sometimes forget sarcasm doesn't come across easily online.... Iphone 7 would've been a wow phone 2+ years ago... it's about matching my 18 month old android.. though lacks wireless charging, fast charging and ....oh yeah a headphone jack :p

It is a great shame for Samsung that the Note 7 had a battery recall, as they were putting up a great challenge to the iPhone 7.

The other cool product I've seen recently is the Tesla Model X SUV. This thing has amazing acceleration and power. There is a video on YouTube where it out accelerates an Alfa Romeo 4C supercar, whilst itself towing an Alfa Romeo 4C. That is nuts.

Didn't Wozniak (the dude who's kinda important in the apple world) pretty much say WTF are they thinking removing the headphone jack ?

My main issue is, I listen to my music in the gym, in work, and general while in motion. This is the same as when I'm using the hands free. No matter how careful you are, it does gets caught, or it slips out and you catch the wire, life happens.

How much hammer can the power port take before it converts the phone in to a really poor paperweight ?

I also don't trust Apple not to produce a lightening port 3.0, this is the second iteration, and its pretty much due an upgrade soon. So you buy new peripherals, then bam all useless. Apple have been asked if they are committing to keeping the current port, and they wouldn't confirm or deny. This should scare you.

@accelerator the Note 7 weren't really an iPhone 7 rival (perhaps a iP7 Plus rival), the Galaxy 7 destroys the iP7 in almost every way on the other hand. There is an article, which suggests that samsung saw how basic and out of ideas the iPhone 7 were, so they rushed the Note 7 out, a week or so earlier than expected, and this is why the battery issue weren't spotted. Interesting angle.

As for Products Sugru has been quite interesting, its like plasticine which sets like hard plastic, so you can protect connectors on phones, or repair things, I've used it to repair a broken back for a battery compartment too. I picked some up on amazon on prime day. https://sugru.com/

I also saw a product called Ultra Ever Dry or Ever Dry Ultra, which is basically a varnish which is water proof, and works on nearly everything.
