well what a fortnight ,two weeks ago had a really bad bloated stomach....about an hour later i felt a popping sound from my bottom right hand side of my stomach and i knew i had problems....my appendix had decided to burst in spectacular fashion..this was on a Sunday night and i had an operation the following thursday, anyway had it all sorted and was sent home the following Saturday only to find i had more problems....namely ilius (bowel was inactive) so after not eating for ten days and losing 1 1/2 stone in the process within six days i was back in hospital on double dose of morphine for pain....i was actually sent home with a raging temperature (bed was required) so not a very happy hospital visit,i was released yesterday hopefully for good :p

p.s sorry for not getting back to people about domains on these boards i was in no fit state to reply...

Mark

Sounds like a nightmare - hope you're all fine now and don't get any more problems! :)

My 5 yo daughter had same this summer but was mis-diagnosed twice by A&E, they put it down to a stomach bug .... she was screaming in pain so can imagine what you've been through.

Glad to hear you're on the up.

i felt fine before the op,afterwards i was on about ten pills taken orally per hour,i had three canulars in my arm that were permanantly topped up and my temperature was never far from 39-40' ,apparently i didn't recognise my missus and kept asking for my mother who passed away in 06....bad place to be

i went in hospital 15 stone 6 lb and came out 13 stone 11lb ,apparently it is more common in children to have this operation,i will take the blame for this happening...i was warned by a rumbling appendix many times and decided to carry on regardless so it i got what was coming, sitting at my computer for 12-13 hours a day without exercise will always come back to bite you.....the NHS was tremendous as per usual ,i was talking to many nurses on the ward and one of them had been a Nurse on the ward for six years and she started on £10k per year and six years later she is on £14k ,this is an absolute joke of a pay packet and the government should be ashamed....someone who administors life saving drugs for £14k per year is a disgrace.

thank you for all the get well soon remarks...much appreciated

sorry to hear about your problems. It's sounds like a really traumatic time for you and your family. Good to hear that you're feeling a lot better.

You're right about the need for exercise in this type of job. I don't particularly like jogging but make myself go on a run most days and purchased a set of weights. You only need to do a few minutes on the weights each day to feel the benefit. If you're spending long hours on a computer without exercise it will catch up with you.

Mark very sorry to hear that mate, hope you get better soon buddy.

good luck recuperating, sounds like a very painful and frighting experience the NHS do a brilliant job and the nurses deserve bigger pay packets.

thanks, now im even more scared, i have to have a biopsy taken from my bowel on the 10th dec :(

glad to hear your getting better though :D

Good to hear your on the mend Mark, that's scary stuff... mate at school had the same thing and was in the hospital for about a month, basically poisoned by the contents of his appendix which sounds like what might have happened to you on the second week.

Hopefully you can make a fresh start and keep those pounds off

Very scary stuff Mark, I’m glad you’re on the mend. I had an appendicectomy 10 years ago. I was rushed into hospital and had emergency surgery as apparently is was very close to bursting. I remember it being the worst pain I had ever felt, absolute agony. With that in mind to actually have it burst must have been terrible!

I wish you all the best for a speedy recovery and hope you feel better soon.

Sounds scary but good to hear you are on the mend. The NHS does do a great job most of the time and it's good to recognise the committed workforce. When I get my tax bill then thinking it might go towards vital healthcare makes me feel better about it.

Rgds

hope your okay, and get better fast.

Things like this and the NHS that make me feel all the tax I pay that i hate paying is worth it, as you cant put a price on your health

Sounds horrible. Good that you're on the mend now though. I think it's easy to take good health for granted, and when like this something happens it can really shake you up.
