How do you keep at it, what keeps you building, buying, etc.

Reason I ask:

I have redesigned a site about 10 times today, its taken my whole day and I have just scrapped another design. I just look at them and they look shit. I have hardly any drive at the moment :)

As a designer I know the feeling - sounds like you're a bit of a perfectionist too. I've learnt from experience with my own projects that it's best to get something up of good quality and you can always tweak it later.

For me, the excitement of finding a new domain/development opportunity and making money out of it keeps me going. The lack of drive generally comes once a site is already making money and requires updating. Always seems a bit of a hassle even though it's worth it! :)

This tends to drive me but it should be the other way around I think:

Just kidding. What drives me is an incessant urge to innovate and to be top of my game. Site creation is a skill I don't personally possess and I don't think anyone can be all things to all men. Just do what you do best and be tenacious!

Never rest on your laurels either :)

The title of this thread and Dale's post makes me think Acorn needs a 'what are you driving' thread for inspiration like on the A4U forum :D

Seriously.. It can be hard work to keep yourself going at times but the fact that im actually doing something i really enjoy and make money from it keeps me going.. As many revisions as needed, you need to get the basics right before you can start harvesting

Not sure why I put so much work into life or what it is for. Which is worrying because where is the finish line???

Will you ever achieve it if you don't know what is driving you?

What drives you?

My Aston DB9 :)

Affiliate Commissions! It's got to a stage where if I don't bother doing any work of an evening I feel worried, it's become second nature I think, I try to think what the hell I did with my spare time before getting into affiliate marketing :)

Good question

Turning a full circle drives me

from concept to reality being creative

its great to see your thoughts working, providing employments and oppertuinities

and making a little bit of profit doers not hurt

and part of the fun if getting around the problems ;)

What drives you?

My Aston DB9 :)

I would hope you drive it!

Part of what drives me (when it comes to design/dev) is that time when you've redone something about fifty million times and then you get there and everything just works. And it's 4am, you're exhausted, but you look at it and you love it. And then you look at it a couple more times & think how awesome you are occasionally, and how glad you are that you didn't just stick with the original design that was meh. And then you fall asleep happy, and when you wake up, it's just as good as you remembered.

Cheesy, but true.

My wife drives me.......round the bend.

My drive is to give up my day job and work for myself, which means i need to match my day job salary and have some security. Unfortunately I have a well paid day job and not so good business ideas!

The standard UK Busa is EU chipped to 186 mph. But you can blow a new chip. It's one bike that's only standard chipped to top speed - not through the gears. Gears 1-5 are not monitored. 6th is. Yes, I am truly a donor - it says so on my licence :)

Been playing to buy a bike for a long time, was planning to get my license during my time in the uk but unfortunally i spent too much time in the pub and chasing easy girls and never got around doing it.

But anyway, im still planning to buy a ducatti, i know its not the most reliable bike but got a weak spot for it :)

Cars .... lol bit sad, but seriously when I see anything from a lambo to a GTR it just drives me to do create websites that make serious cash.

I can do 0-60 in 6.2 seconds but wont be happy till I have a car that can do it in under 4!
