Why are there no female managers in men's football?

Cos they don't have the balls for it! boom boom!

More likely cos it's still a male dominated sport and managers tend to come through the ranks of ex-players.

And women probably have better things to do than put up with all the misogynistic crap! :)

Should make for some interesting 'changing room' scenarios

Clearly we are too busy buying and developing domains ;)

And why no F1 drivers??? I heard a rumor there was supposed to be one this season but its not going to happen.

I think women participating in F1 or any other male-dominated sport is unlikely as men are stronger and have better reactions etc than women. Management is different though - it doesn't require any physical prowess.

Fatima Whitbread?

It's because every few weeks, every decision they made would be totally irrational...."take that penalty from the corner spot!" - "I'm booking you for wearing those boots with those socks!" etc. You could finish a match with only 3 players left on the pitch.

I doubt female managers would get any respect. You have to earn respect, and the easiest way for Football Managers to do that is to have been a player and a good one. Because females lack the physical attributes of men, I doubt there'll ever be a woman who could compete at the highest level and therefore gain some respect from future players when she goes to manage them.

It's a fair point but both Wenger and Mourinho played only a handful of professional games and they're two of the most respected managers in the game. I think the long-term football management trend is going to be away from ex-players anyway as all the evidence suggests playing and management are two distinct and often mutually exclusive skill sets.

As has already been said there are a few women on the verge of F1 as its more about fitness then sheer strength.
I for one don’t think it will be long before the first arrives just think about all the exposure sponsors would get from all the hype.
Also don’t forget Godaddy's Danica Patrick drives Indy car over in the states.
Women in football though cant see that happening any time soon
