I put in an offer for a domain on sedo, and if anyone doesn't know how it works you put an offer in and then wait for a counter offer from the seller.

What I was amazed at was that when I submitted my opening offer sedo presented me with a number of other domains that I might be interested in.
So, if I see one that I am more interested in it might deter me from seeing through the purchase that I had originally intended.
No wonder there are so many none payers on sedo, the buyer has probably been tempted by another domain they have offered him.

Who the hell dreamed that one up.

I think it's the final straw for me.

They've done that for years.

At the end of the day they're a platform, so displaying inventory that may be of interest to a potential purchaser is to be expected

Yes of course but not under the circumstance that the buyer has already selected and bid on a name. If they did want to push other domains it should be after the deal is completed .

Just to emphasise my annoyance.
I bid on a name, it's an opening low bid, so very early in the buying process.
Now at this stage they present me with 6 or 7 selected domains that I might also be interested in ( or maybe interested in as an alternative ) .
The sellers name brought me to sedo's site, sedo are getting a big fat 20% commission and they start putting obstacles in the way of the seller getting the sale..... it stinks.

It could bring benefit, examples presented to buyers could be from your own inventory.

I think the possibility that it diverts the buyers attention is far greater than any benefit that may be derived at that point of the sales procedure.

The buyer can be presented with other domains after the sale is done and dusted and I mean done and dusted, sale agreed is not sufficient because the buyer can still back out without fear of any legal action of enforcement by sedo.

True. I think it could work well if you're not driving any of the traffic to your Sedo listings i.e. if you have the domains you're selling pointed somewhere other than Sedo. In that case, you're reliant on Sedo to generate attention, so anything they do to "surface" your domains on their platform is a plus (and in fact the ONLY reason to list with Sedo, since they're helping themselves to 20%).

On the other hand, if you're supplying the leads (through Sedo parked traffic) then I can see how it could be irritating.
