Here's a quick summary of how you should be filling in your consultation document, depending on what your opinion of .uk and of Nominet's proposal is. I'm no artist so it's not pretty - but hopefully it does the job!

Will do mine at the w/e.

I wonder if it's a waste of time though as Nominet will do what they want anyway? ;)

It's not patronising from my point of view, it was seriously helpful.

They might, but if you fill in your views and tick the "public" box, that's one more response we will be able to take a look at down the road. It will be hard(er) for Nominet to steamroller it through if say 70-90% of the comments it's obligated to publish for inspection are negative.

I did this twice, once for myself and once for my employer.

I was pretty blunt but avoided any bad language...we'll see if they publish it.

Mine is done. I don't want my responses published, so have ticked accordingly...

Last Day .uk V2

Sent my .uk feedback in on Friday with "publishing allowed" and have had acknowledgment Nominet received it.

Had another meeting with my local MP on Friday and she is also responding to the consultation.

Last full day today if you intend to submit your .uk response.

Hi Stephen,

If it was to go ahead, what do you think is best way?

(in under 20 words!)

I'd be interested to know, as I didn't get chance to make it to last domainers' event.

Thanks, Phil

".uk and .co.uk 100% pairing"

.uk is for business: other UK tld's work as they do now

.co.uk owners automatically get .uk: all .co.uk holders gain (not just domainers who know about it)

.uk is free: costs from Nominet surplus

.co.uk and .uk redirect at registry level: website and email will work as one

.co.uk and .uk linked ownership that cannot be split: no security concerns over confusion

Independent study and research: as enormous consequences of getting it wrong

Consultation to a wide range of stakeholders: something not yet done

Simple in concept: .co.uk and .uk are one and the same

Looks like the consultation submission link is still live, so if you missed the opportunity to respond during a busy weekend, grab it NOW before Nominet have the chance to take it down!

Potential upload problems

I was told by somebody yesterday that the upload of the pdf consultation feedback was not working, it may have been isolated incident or I'm sure there would have been some posts about it at Acorn.

If you have problems with the website upload, you may consider emailing your .uk feedback to and advising them if you had problems with the upload:

I uploaded my PDF several days ago and got a confirmation screen but not a confirmation email. Did anyone who uploaded rather than filled in the online version get email confirmations?

Got a prompt reply to my question to the support team - they got my original submission both ways (emailed copy and form upload) :)
