Hi

Looking for a bit of feedback on my latest website.

Website

Needs more content adding, information on leasing, FAQ's etc., but the bulk of it is done.

I am looking for any user journey issues you may have and how professional and trustworthy the site looks, I guess the question is would you enquire about leasing a car from the site????

Thanks in advance. :)

It lacks credibility.

Poor design, poor structure, no value added. You need to do a lot of reading on user centric design and value propositions amongst other things.

Without being too harsh if I controlled the internet I'd be hitting the delete key.

Whats the main goal of the site?

The titles over the cars should be clickable

You should remove the spammy keywords at the top Hybrid car leasing / Electric car leasing etc

I would also remove the text in the grey block under the navigation & replace it with a single elegant sentence summing up what the site is & what the visitor should do

I would make the logo at the top clickable to return to the homepage

You have canonical issues with clicking home going to /index.shtml version and www. not redirected to non www. (or whatever way you want it) + the page titles are all the same.

But I assume you can't have focused on the SEO aspects as of yet.

How can it ever be a serious site btw if you have tradedoubler adverts sending people elsewhere?

I think the value add is in the fact it's only listing "green cars" no?

Thanks, but not very constructive criticism, almost looks like you have copied and pasted a review from somewhere else.

I quite like it, nice clean and simple to use.

I would like to see car manufacturer's/models to choose from.
Phone number on the homepage "call now for a quote" type of thing opposite the logo maybe.
I like the logo but its a bit small?

Whats the main goal of the site?

To sell lease leads, I have built a relationship with a large lease company with agreed minimum comission.

You are right, thanks

You should remove the spammy keywords at the top Hybrid car leasing / Electric car leasing etc

This is the <h1> tag, I fail to see why you think this is spam?

Good points, this actually is a bit spammy:oops:

I would make the logo at the top clickable to return to the homepage

Yep right again, I usually do this, dont know why I haven't this time?

You have canonical issues with clicking home going to /index.shtml version and www. not redirected to non www. (or whatever way you want it) + the page titles are all the same.

But I assume you can't have focused on the SEO aspects as of yet.

Not all the page titles are the same, (Car details pages have electric, hybrid....etc) but correct I need to optimise yet.

How can it ever be a serious site btw if you have tradedoubler adverts sending people elsewhere?

My site is for leasing, the add is for Car Hire.

Thanks Murrey for a constructive review.

I think the value add is in the fact it's only listing "green cars" no?

Where does it say that? :D

I get that of course but a logo and some small text is not a value proposition.

a.) It's not clear.
b.) It's hardly unique

Thanks, but not very constructive criticism, almost looks like you have copied and pasted a review from somewhere else.

There is no point going into great depth as I'd be writing a 3000 word post with everything that's wrong with it which I'm not going to do.

Even if I did, you'd take it personally and probably just stick with what you've got and accuse me of copying and pasting an answer from elsewhere.

All that will happen with this thread is you'll get several bits and pieces answers. Like Murray's for example, which all of his points are valid btw so not a criticism. Then implement some of them which you think are valid and end up with something a little less, or maybe a little more cobbled together.

If this is a serious site then hire a designer who can get it right first time.

Let me tell you something I've learned, don't build websites without love. Sooner or later you'll realise it's a waste of time :D

Yes, correct.

I also own hybridcarlease.co.uk, hybridcarleasing.co.uk & electriccarlease.co.uk, electriccarleasing.co.uk which I plan to develop off the back of this one.

Do you prefer lease or leasing?

Thanks

This is the <h1> tag, I fail to see why you think this is spam?

Because it's stuffing keywords for the sake of stuffing keywords, no use to visitors.

My site is for leasing, the add is for Car Hire.

Adverts makes it an obvious spammy site

With no unique content & adverts I can't imagine google giving it much love

But don't get me wrong, the site overall looks pretty good design wise, but doesn't have the finishing touches.

Possibly could be clearer, I am not claiming it is unique?.. but it is a niche.

There is no point going into great depth as I'd be writing a 3000 word post with everything that's wrong with it which I'm not going to do.

Fair enough.

Even if I did, you'd take it personally and probably just stick with what you've got and accuse me of copying and pasting an answer from elsewhere.

Very presumptuous of you but incorrect, your presumptions though are consistent with your bombastic arrogant manner.

All that will happen with this thread is you'll get several bits and pieces answers. Like Murray's for example, which all of his points are valid btw so not a criticism. Then implement some of them which you think are valid and end up with something a little less, or maybe a little more cobbled together.

If you had waited before exploding you would have seen that I also agree with some of Murray's constructive points.

If this is a serious site then hire a designer who can get it right first time.

Some people like the design, for all I know I may dislike your idea of good design, I think it is fit for purpose bar some tweaks, it's subjective I guess other than some golden rules.

Let me tell you something I've learned, don't build websites without love. Sooner or later you'll realise it's a waste of time :D

There is truth in what you say, but again you are presuming that I built the site without love.

Thanks.

How will the sites differ? You've got a site offering green cars for lease, surely you can put both hybrid and electric on your current site?

I could understand it in the past if you wanted to rank for those keywords but these days, the domain doesn't play much part in it. The way I see it, you're splitting your promo budget 5 ways for nothing. You'll get no real benefit from the domain so in my opinion you'd be better off promoting the one site.

At first glance, I saw the value add in specifically offering green cars for lease although there seems to be an awful lot of sites doing exactly the same thing you're doing.

To me, it looks like you've planning to simply reinvent the wheel and stick sites on your hybrid/electric domains in the hope of ranking for those keywords. It won't work. That stopped working mid-2012.

My advice would not be to worry about your site aesthetics so much and concentrate on offering an angle or information that your competitors don't.

Because it's stuffing keywords for the sake of stuffing keywords, no use to visitors.

If the <h1> copy was below or next to the logo would you still say that?

I dont think it is really stuffing when it describes the sites purpose.

Your opinion though is interesting, and if you think it stinks of stuffing it might need changing.

But don't get me wrong, the site overall looks pretty good design wise, but doesn't have the finishing touches.

As mentioned in first post I have yet to add alot of content, and though you might say the content is not unique, it is not copied from anywhere.

Thanks again.

The name of the site?

Of course I know that.

But does everyone else? I highly doubt it.

The domain name will give me an idea of what to expect if I click from the SERPs. But the design, content and everything else about it doesn't confirm or give me a further idea of what this site is offering. There is a disconnect.

Why is there not a big message telling me what the site is, who they are, what is on offer (benefits) and what I should do next.

Instead the first thing I see is "PRICE MATCH!" Which is confusing.

"has all the best eco car lease deals" According to whom? Nobody buys spurious claims.

I know nothing about eco leasing or the benefits. With the fact India and China are knocking out hundreds of coal fired power stations every year it's not really something I think matters either :) So ideally you'd need to get some survey data to know what matters or existing knowledge of the market to craft the right copy. But as an example e.g:

Lease an Environmentally Friendly Car

Compare deals on eco, hybrid and electric cars with GreenCarLeasing.co.uk and:

  • Pay less Road Tax
  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
  • Lower your monthly fuel bill

Button: View latest lease offers.

Design = bad
Layout = bad
Content = bad

There are not to many sites that only offer green cars, though there are quite a few that offer green cars alongside normal cars.

I didn't plan on building on both variations of the names, but you are right in alot of what you say about me trying to rank for the domain keywords.

Surely if you're visiting this site from the SERPs you're searching for something specific e.g. green car lease, hybrid car lease, electric car lease etc? If you land on the site, you can clearly see it matches what you searched for and offers you exactly what you're looking for. It's an SEO play, it's not trying to win over customers who have no idea about green cars or leasing in general...

Adding keywords for the sake of adding them just looks spammy to me.

Maybe just one keyword in the h1 fine if it describes the content below, but yours is oddly placed and it's strange to have it on every page of the site.

I don't think header tags make any kind of meaningful difference anyway & if they do it's minute compared to one strong link,
