GDPR with Brexit

I googled but couldn't find much, maybe I'm not searching the right thing, perhaps this is obvious forgive me

With Brexit will GDPR no longer apply to adsense and UK visitors?

Could this lead to any increase in Adsense revenue if UK users are allowed to be tracked and given personalised ads etc

Also, will we no longer be able to threaten other users on forums with GDPR

There will be no immediate change to the UK’s data protection standards. GDPR will be brought into UK law and the Information Commissioner will remain the UK’s independent supervisory authority on data protection.

GDPR has got to be one of the silliest EU regulations. Which only became law in May 2018 i.e. AFTER we had voted to leave the EU. Then you've got cookie bars that simply spoil internet viewing. It's going to take a long time to remove the EU's tentacles from our laws and way of life.

In the long term it's likely we'll converge with the US in terms of privacy and such. The EU have ambitions of their own internet, independent of US influence. We'll see how that pans out ....

GDPR / Data Protection Act is in UK law so won't be affected by Brexit. Though the Parliament will now have to option to change it as they see fit.
The general trend globally is for more privacy. If it's not set in law it will be players like Apple and Brave that move the industry forward.
But even Google has recently announced it will be blocking all tracking in Chrome in two years time I think

Yes. That's the difference between information last updated almost a year ago, and the very latest details. (The Government's website is generally riddled with outdated and contradictory Brexit-related information.)

I find the whole gov.uk infrastructure to be a total pain in the arse. Especially when it comes to filing taxes. It’s like they make it difficult on purpose.

Oddly enough, the .gov.uk project gets a lot of praise although I agree with you. My tax account sometimes reverts back to the legacy website and I find it impossible to navigate back to where I want to be. This has been going on for 5 years now.

I hate it mate. Tried filing my taxes yesterday to realise I wasn’t registered for self assessment anymore. Now I’m having to wait 7-10 days for them to send a code to me... useless.
