Just a brief update on the topic in this earlier thread
http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/uk-do...ery-early-look-uk-behaviour-top-uk-sites.html

There are 205 (now 204) .co.uk sites in Alexa's list of the top 20,000 busiest websites in the world.

Of those 204, exactly half (102) have registered the matching .uk as of this morning.

Here's what they're doing with the domains:
blank page: 5
does not resolve: 42
server default page: 1
official site: 1
separate .uk focused site: 1
redirects to .com: 2
redirects to po.st: 1
redirects to .co.uk: 27
registrar page: 22

Thanks. Shows nobody cares about .uk yet (given the lack of proper use of the domains).

A question...
Are the top 20,000 on alexa available free from somewhere on Amazon/Alexa or do you pull it from the paid AWS API?

Cheers, I thought they had stopped the free download when they changed the Alexa offering. Nice to see it's still there, even if it's not hugely reliable as you get further down the list, it is handy.

Nice to see Acorn in the top 100,000.

Doesnt really take much to get a good Alexa when most of your primary audience are webmasters. Huge differences in traffic between a Webmaster related site in the 60k ranges and a fashion site for example in the 250k range.

Nice to see Acorn in the top 100,000.

Only because acorn has a lot of webmaster traffic - with huge respect there's no way it's a top 100k site in terms of traffic.

Alexa is massively skewed by webmaster traffic because they are/were the ones most likely to use the alexa toolbar
