Hi,

I'm thinking about signing up with Affiliate Window, but before I do, I need to know how the links to retailers work.

I can't use feeds or php stuff, so any link to a retailers product on my site will need to be an individual html link to each product, is there any way on AW to make links that direct to individual products?

Not sure I have explained that very well, ermm, say I have 1000 products I want to place on my site, I need an individual html affiliate link for each of those products, is there a way to get a direct affiliate link to any product offered by any retailer?

AW have a deeplink creator which allows you to deeplink to any product for a retailer whose scheme you have signed up for.

Hi Tifosi,

Cheers for that, another thing I wanted to ask, when setting up the AW account, it's asks for a domain name during registration, can you add other domains when the account is activated, or do you need a new account for each domain?

I've always used the same account for all my sites. As long as you don't break any t+cs for a particular merchant, i.e. the site is acceptable to them, on one of the other sites I think you'll be ok. Some aff networks let you add multiple sites but I'm not sure offhand that Awin do.

Cheers Accelerator,

I see, so it works pretty much the same as Adsense, in that you can put the same code on any site, thanks for the help.

You can use shopwindow to create an aff site like I have done on lumens creating store with links to various affiliates. As with adsense you can roll it through any domain without prior approval.

Hi Scott,

Interesting, didn't realise you could make a store with AW, I assume no coding skills are required, just add retailers and it makes the store for you instantly using a ready made template?

Just been doing a bit of Googling about Shop Window, found this page with some info about it:

Affiliate Window - What are they like? Lammo.net: Affiliate Marketing Blog

Arguably Affiliate Window’s greatest offering, however, is the “Shop Window Toolset”, which allows you to create content widgets or even entire websites in order to promote your merchant programs. Their widget creation tool is very easy to use and is handled entirely online. You can choose from a wide ranging selection of templates in varying sizes. You may also select from an array of themed designs (for instance, widgets designed to promote electrical goods) and branded designs (for instance, Woolworth branded widgets). After choosing your initial design, you can then add products from any merchant and customise your template further to fit more seamlessly into your site design. When you have finished creating your widget, you are presented with a simple piece of code for you to easily integrate into your website.

In order to create entire websites to showcase merchant products, Affiliate Window offers a PHP template with an integrated search feature for you to use. If you have experience of PHP, then this allows you a great deal of flexibility and the opportunity to entirely customise your design. However, there is little support offered for those who have no experience of coding, and so this may not be an option for everyone.

A couple of questions about this, obviously, I can't create a whole site as I know nothing about php, but the first paragraph says you can still create a site using one of their widget tool templates, which you integrate it in to your site, now then, how does that work, does it mean you just make a blank html index page with no content, and then paste the bit of code in to the html, then upload the index.html file to your webhost. is that it?

Is that your own template or where did you get it?

Nice site.

Admin

It is a purchased website template from template monster (.com) which I just used with the free shop window script to create something that looked like a real shop, I have no natural design/coding experience. Then I used that layout on bedroom furniture which has sold a £480 bed and a couple of £80 & £70 mattresses in the last week, the same script has sold quite a few netbooks for me but not as good converting as amazon, I am really fresh to affiliate sales though so really still stumbling to see what works and what doesn't.

Scott,

How do you get your website to display like that? do you user their api?

I can't seem to work out how to only display one merchant or certain products etc.

I've been looking at the enhanced and will probs switch to that soon, hence the unfinished sweet site. Enhanced is available from the site with the guide.

@ FagEnd,

Yeah, seen that affilistore stuff before, but I have no idea how php, feeds, databases and other coding related stuff works, the only way I can do things on any site I make is to link to each product individually with an html aff link, which takes bloody ages to make a site like that.

I made a single pager before with a couple of hundred products on it, it took an eternity to make, copy and pasting each link after having to deep link to get the individual aff urls in the first place, and by the time I finished making it, loads of the products were no longer available, so I just left it, nightmare, I'll try that Shop Window page making widget and see how I get on with that.

Yes, affiliate-stores host the download. I'm the developer. Working on ase2.5.4 atm and then the big push to ase v3 with some extra blue smarties!

@sysreg. I tend to use Affiliate Window feeds - they've also just released an online feed-creator which is good. ASE allows field mapping to import feeds and cron refresh though for the sites I've done I've imported to excel and tweaked first. Sites refreshed monthly-ish

This is the type of thread we need to see more of. Affiliate Marketing is an unknown entity for me, and i'd be interested to hear from anyone who moved a domain name from the minisite/adsense arena to affilates, and whether there was a significant increase in revenue.

@ Tifosi, you might as well have written that in Swahili , I have no idea what ASE or field mapping is, never heard of those things before, I don't know how to use Excel, never used that before, not even got it on my computer, and I don't have a clue how a feeds work, this is all alien to me.

It's really simple to use the affilistore. If you can follow a recipe then you can work with this. It sounds daunting but it's a piece of cake really. To install a feed on your sites you only need to add 1 URL. It's worth taking an hour or two to work through.
