From the ones that I've been looking at, some have been renewed and others not. More not renewed than renewed.

Years ago they bought up virtually every village name in the UK (1000's) and it now seems that they are going to let most of them expire.

If you live in one of the 1000's of villages .co.uk domains they own, it's great. Offer your humble villagers an email address, in return for free tea and cakes.

I think I read somewhere that they had more than 19,000 domains. I bet Nominet sent them a turkey at Christmas.

I think it's going to be something of a bun fight come drop day!

Calculator time. 19,000 say divide by 2 years, so thats 9,500 renewals a year. £5 a pop = £47,500 plus vat.

If you could sell email provision at £25 a year like Another.com then you'd need to sell 1,900 accounts a year just to break even.

Traffic would be OK. Everyone at sometime drops their hometown/village into the browser bar... don't they?

On the other hand you only have to sell off a tiny handful of those names each year to cover the renewals.

I tell you what, it'd be a late night trying to reggy all those domains in one shot! I think they are due to expire on about 3 or 4 dates.

Surely some will be recovered before the drop dates. Meanwhile I've stripped their database and will be hammering WHOIS.

Apologies to anyone who is pissed off, but if you keep up-to-date lists you'll already be aware, and these people with decent systems will be the only ones able to grab these.

I've been watching Any-web for sometime now. It appears they have re-regged all the keyword domains, but left a lot of the Town \ Village domains to go to a suspended state.

I wouldn't get too excited about place names, generally they are not nearly as valuable as you might expect. How many place name sales are listed on Domain Prices?

They are similar to 3 character names in that they all have value and will eventually sell, if only for low prices. I doubt that Any-Web will be releasing ones of much value, although they must all be worth much more than reg fee.

Looking at the list virtually all are rubbish domains unless or course you happen to live in that village, saying that quite a few of the names are actually surnames as well.
