Hi

Are there any reasons not to park a domain - at least temporarily while deciding what else to do with it?

I don't mean 'are there better things to do with a domain' - I'm sure there are, for some domains anyway.

But - can it do any long term harm to park a domain for either a short or long time?

Thanks for reading this - hope some of you can give me some advice on this!

Suzi :)

Might not be profitable, or it could take some time to unpark, which might annoy buyers.

OK - thanks for that - so nothing too bad!

nameservers will almost certainly be logged as parked

This may affect potential development - as SEs may recognise that domain has been parked and reset backlinks.

Well I always park mine before developing and it hasn't done me much harm so far.

Not sure what others think but one of the problems I could see with parking is that you have very little say over the ads delivered and as a consequence there could be ads delivered to the domain that may come back to bit you on the bum at a later date.

I am thinking, (for instance) you could have a LLLL domain that is the initials of a company (in all innocence) and you park it only to find that their ads are delivered.

The company then find visitors coming from your site and want your domain and issue a cease and desist order.

Get your own ppc feed, then develop the domain, just do a small 5 page site. You get more revenue and google can find it.
