Can You See This Light Grey Background On Your Monitor?

Hi Guys

So, people have been saying how dated my site design looks, and I do agree with them. I have a question, see this mens clothing page.

I'm thinking it will look less dated if I remove some of the 1 pixel borders around the tables. Before I do this however, can you tell me whether you can easily make out that there is a light grey background behind all the logos in the left hand column that says "Best mens clothing sites". I just want to be sure that this area can be differentiated on most monitors or displays before removing the border.

So, can you see the light grey background colour in the column on the left?

I say this with the greatest respect... but you have to stop pissing around with the design and go for a full re-skin.

Colour and border tweaks are not going to be enough.

Either the site is valuable/earning enough to spend some time and effort on, or it isn't, but I wouldn't waste time in the middle ground.

It would look less dated if you built a time machine, went back to 1994, and asked Stevie Wonder to do you a cutting edge design. On an etch-a-sketch.


You're now just trying to sprinkle glitter on a turd. The design is not fixable in any way, shape or form.

I've just removed some of the table borders. Monkey see this page. I think that's lifted it a bit, looks a bit more modern.

Anyway, I've now removed some of the orange arrows as suggested (see here). I'll do something about the rest later but Top Gear is on now.
