Anyone recommend a decent cheap reseller host. Yes there are such things. Although not the case with my current one.

Looking for <£100 pa. cpanel/mysql etc.... for circa +- 20 sites.
I have a couple already but want to spread things around.
uk based preferred but not necessary.

Had enough of shite service im getting from the cock at one of the hosts i use.

evohosting and eukhost are ones im considering but want to find some more reviews.

thanks in advance.

Been with them before. Experienced fair bit of downtime and had major php issues which caused most of my sites to show errors and lose rankings. so not for me.

thanks anyway.

Have shortlisted the following

Krystal
Evohosting
Eukhost

Anyone have any experiences or views?

Hi Stender

I've been using wesh.co.uk for several months now. Looks like their 200mb Shared Hosting package might meet your needs - up to 20 domains, £84 per year

I went with them because of their excellent support - a real person on the end of the phone!

HTH

Cheers, Jon

I had a consultancy job to move all of a customer's domains from an assortment of Euk reseller accounts to other resellers he had due to the level of service (or lack of!) he was getting from euk.

Feel free to drop me a PM with your full requirement and I'll get a quote sorted for you.

Is a reseller account essential ?

Evo's £20 a year in half price sale (2 yrs for £40) allows 20 domains. Unless you need separate login details for each domain then that maybe a better option. This gives 3gb disk space and 60gb bandwidth, or for double 1 @ £40 / 2 @ £80, that gives you 8gb Disk and 160gb bandwidth and unlimited sites.

I've had around 30 hosts in 10 yrs, evo is the only one I have held an account with for more than a year or so.

I'm looking hosting my next £5,000+ a year dedicated server with them, which will mean I will be paying them a substantial sum all in.

They also have a pretty good affiliate program, I just wish you could link directly to products with the affiliate link rather than just the generic link. Since I have my affiliate link on a perm shortcut http://clients.evohosting.co.uk/aff.php?aff=060 (aff link, right click remove it if you like), the discount code is enter 'HALF' to get half price and you can get upto 2 yrs half price, this is for new and existing customers.

Don't really need reseller just a habit of calling it that. I'm looking to move about 20ish domains from one of my hosts who charges c£100 for 5gb space and 50gb bandwidth but the support is absolutely shite! I will name and shame once i've moved! EVO offer similar for about half the price.

i've heard mixed about euk and had a look on their forum and there didnt seem to be many complaints. But i'll take heed and give them a miss.

So shortlist of EVO and KRYSTAL any more views on these 2 please?

Tried buying evo's 8gb 160gb shared hosting using your affil link which is advertised as their double promo at £39.16 but on checkout it comes up double the price at £78.32!
The £39 doesn't mention using the half code so you would think you could get 50% off £39. I thought i'd contact to see what the story is but in order to contact them you have to register and open a support ticket. I register and then they want you to enter your cpanel password in order to create a ticket!!!!!!!! How the bloody hell have I got a cpanel password!!!!Arghhhhh!

Not a good start! lets try krystal.

p.s evo's site doesn't inspire confidence when you have images not displaying and a wordpress feel about it.

It says on the hosting page about using the half code at the bottom of the page (see pic), I think it needs adding to the top as well but not my site :)

Goto the contact page http://www.evohosting.co.uk/about/contact-us, should be Toby who gets the messages :)

I can only speak for dreamhost and evo the former I use to hammer bandwidth, and the latter for everything else.

Oh for the record anyone who does hosting affiliates, EVO's payout is 50% of the initial payment (not on-going forever) so if they pay monthly you only get half th first month payment. Its not the best but like I have said 100 times, I'm happy to pay a premium for a premium service :).

All a gamble really. You don't know if these companies are bedroom setups reselling but then if you go with the big boys your not guaranteed any better service.

Krystal site inspires no more confidence than evo. Goto their server uptime page and you get a page cannot be found and on server status page says we are redoing check back!

Saga continues..... Decided to signup with krystal, completed my details......pressed enter......."There has been a problem creating your account someone will be in contact shortly" great start!.

I know Evo has its own cages in a UK NOC and about a half dozen staff with at least one that lives within pissing distance of the NOC as I've asked for dozens of gigs of data to be plugged (physcially) into a server for rapid tranfer via firewire/usb/gigabit ether and its not been an issue, so hardly a bedroom reseller if that helps any.

Surely there must be a member on Acorn who has more than a passing experience with Krystal ?

One of my other hosts is Web Hosting by DreamHost Web Hosting: Web Sites, Domain Registration, WordPress, Ruby on Rails, all on Debian Linux! who also match your price and requirements, I only use them for very heavy bandwidth which is mostly a few sites like photobucket that I run and streaming video/porn sites. So maybe worth looking there if you lose the faith :)

I was hoping for a few more replies but unfortunately the sales threads seem to be the only really active threads even when it isn't christmas. I was posting my quest hoping it would help others when deciding.

There's a few posts about krystal but nothing too recent. Things change so was hoping for a more upto date view.
My current host was recommended on here a few times though and they have proven to be a bunch of useless muppets.

Servage was one of my previous yank hosts before I switched to dreamhost, had a few problems with Servage mostly their support (which started out outstanding), blacklisting it was literally every week yahoo/msn blacklisted the IP and mail was rejected, servage hosts a significant volume of the worlds porn sites and is treated as such.

The other issye was the throttle. Download speed with them was about 90kbps-150kbps never really got more, with dreamhost I get 280kbps-350kbps.

Now this was 18 months ago maybe so things may have change and for the sum of like £40 a year thats a days revenue on 20 sites ? its not worth questioning if you need that bandwidth.

have you looked at hostgator.com ,been with them a while ,no problem at all.

I have been looking at hostgator myself but some of the 'not-allowed' things limit my use

'IRC Bots, Proxy Scripts / Anonymizers, Pirated Software / Warez, image, filedump, mirror, or banner-ad services (similar to rapidshare, photobucket, or commercial banner ad rotation), affiliate servers, topsites, commercial audio streaming (more than one or two streams), Escrow, High-Yield Interest Programs (HYIP) or related sites, Investment sites (FOREX, egold exchange), sale of any controlled substance without prior proof of appropriate permit(s), AutoSurf sites, Bank Debentures, Bank Debenture Trading Programs, Prime Banks Programs, lottery sites, muds / rpg's, hate sites, hacker focused sites/archives/programs, or sites promoting illegal activities, IP Scanners, Brute Force Programs, Mail Bombers and Spam Scripts. Forums and or websites that distribute or link to warez content are prohibited'

Mostly the ones I have made italic, their 'unlimited' is undefined and they are in no rush to explain what exactly they are meaning.

For mini sites its quids in but image or file hosting get ya slapped, too many files gets you slapped (50,000 incl email, each email, pic, html, php etc is 1 file and u have a 50k limit), too restrictive for me.

Anymore recommendations? Have decided against krystal and evohosting.

Still looking for sub £100 pa cpanel hosting. Would prefer recommendations from regulars but you'd think i was asking for a copy of their dropscript.
