Wondering that myself BB :)

Come on ED spill the beans - I hate waiting :)

When it gets down to 0, it'll start counting back up again. Were you guys expecting anything else? :)

Coming Soon

All I can say, is that if you travel, like I do to places where internet access is not as fast as at home (10Mb b/b - LOL) all these additional graphics just slow down the time it takes to access the home page :( , sorry but I really do struggle when using public Wifi points !

Please ED - just think about the time it takes to load your pages !

Cheers

To the unaware (e.g. potential new customers) it looks at first glace as if the whole site is coming soon. At least, I believe that's one possible reaction. You might want to make the countdown timer smaller, or change "coming soon" or something...

Yes, like Edwin says, it looks like the whole website hasn't launched yet with that huge Coming Soon on it. It has me wondering too though. ;)

We actually thought about the coming soon thing, but signups have been as healthy as at any other time in our history, so people either love the idea of being part of something that hasn't launched yet, or it's not too bad :)

8 more days and...???

8 more days and namedrive announces sedo merger.. or
8 more days and namedrive users get full access to traffic logs... or
8 more days and users get the option of yahoo ads rather than google... or
8 more days and users get to set their own title and description tags... or
8 more days and namedrive launches a domain auction site with reasonable commission fees & faster sales cycle... or
8 more days and namedrive extends its spring bonus for another 3 months... or
8 more days and ed raffles one of his highly prized domains ;) ...or

aaahhh i know!! 8 more days and you get to see your spring bonus stats in the payout window?

what... has ED got decent domains?? please share :) what are they :)

8 more days and Google / parker revenue share reverses

I've looked into my crystal balls and I predict it's a tie up with one of the affiliate networks to add shops and/or products to parked domains - thus resulting in much more bunce for us!

8 more days and..

...The counter starts going back up from zero again. Really, it is that exciting. Actually, one of the things mentioned here is *almost* correct, but not quite, because nobody can predict what ND does...

My best domain is opker. co . uk. That about says it all. Though, if anyone is interested in my Edy to Edy portfolio, you know where to come...

Sedo merger?? God forbid!!!
Yahoo ads....very possible
Auction or sales platform.....also highly possible

it's a bit of a long countdown aint it.

bb99, it should be, that's what I wrote in my email to them about moving forward and what they should have talked to networks about at the domain event.

Not that I want to discount any theories here, but one thing I would mention is that we have tried out several different CPA programs and none of them have worked out with parked pages, much to my surprise and disappointment. The main thing being that parking is a very current business and CPA is one that you sometimes have to wait up to 30-60 days to get your money for. The instant nature of the PPC market means you can test several options pretty much in real time, whereas, if someone has a CPA cookie on their computer, you might not see any action for days or weeks. This is, however, still one of the things we are always looking into.

To discount another... Sedo merger is not going to happen... First you say we all come from there now you say we all want to go back :). I do have to admit that my favourite rumour about our formation was that we were just a group of people 'pretending' to be in competition with Sedo only so we can secure disgruntled Sedo customers while actually keeping them on the Sedo system. It would have been a real masterstroke, a really great idea. Sadly not how we came to be. Next time, perhaps...

You may have to wait 30 to 60 days for money - like most affiliates but if it works, a £6.96 sale is better than 3p. Make google earn their money, they've got it far too easy but then even they're going cpa so surely you will be too with their ads?

Hi Lee,

You are preaching to the pastor here. CPA has been a big goal of mine for a long, long time and remains that way. The issue we found with CPA vs PPC parking is that, while you see your daily clicks coming in on a daily basis with PPC, there is always a waiting period for CPA. At the end of which, you can never be sure that you'll make a sale. More often than not, there are big sales which make up for the wait, but in a market where we are judged on daily results, bringing a monthly model into play is very tricky. While we do pride ourselves on pioneering some interesting new products, and we are looking at new avenues - such as lead generation - but I think the fact that, in this massively competitive market, there is nobody doing CPA 'in a box' tells its own story. We are always looking at new ways of monetising traffic, but I'm not sure that CPA would work very well on our model.
I remember floating my great CPA in a box ideas to Nick - Director of Biz Dev at TD and him just saying "Nope, never going to work, really". It seems that Parking and CPA still have some way to go before they work hand in hand. We'll be there when they do :)

Hope you all have a good evening.

Ed

Alright Ed,

All I'll say is be careful when listening to a network on a downward spiral, yes their profits might be increasing but they're going down hill and other networks will bypass td, for some reason they're doing a dgm but no one is speaking out about it. A shame really.

As for parking and cpa, you don't want to muck with domains that do good ppc, you want to make the majority of rubbish that's parked work for the majority instead of pathetic 3 pence clicks here and there, turn them into marketable domains (in your best interest with brokering as well) with sales and even throw in average content like you did with your header spree.

There's an whole gap missing, you know it, I know it, don't listen to TD, go with what you feel is right and partner with another network and get something built on the cheap inhouse. There's an whole new revenue stream that other parkers are exploiting. Well it's up to you, you're missing out. Don't muck with the traffic domains, do some trials with the majority with the minority and increase money with them.

Work with the networks to gauge merchants with high epc for low volume ctr and low epc for high ctr - sound like a dream but simple in concept. There's surely some money to be made, parkers aren't that impatient when it comes to money, they like easy money whichever way. And keep the cut simple across the board then accounting is easy.

But listen to td, if it don't work it doesn't work, maybe google cpa will be easier to implement on parking pages and take away any need for additional development. You know parking, I don't, I hardly do traffic as it doesn't even interest me, it should do but it doesn't as I know a parked domain is wasted money unless it really is a big hitter. *either that or I just can't get enough traffic domains and keep selling them.

Cheers
Lee

Only 15 minutes to go...

Although I did notice that you added a good number of hours onto the countdown as it was originally set to midnight last night.

Tick... Tock...
