you could but you'd have the competition commission jumping on you faster than politicians are resigning :p

yes but it would be limited to 1 million people, or you could half the people but double the amount to put it. would give a much better chance of winning.
just wondering if legaly it could be done

How would you make money from this idea?

You need a licence to set up a lottery and don't forget the gambling tax which I believe is 15% whether you make a profit on the pot or not.

Do a informative mini site thats well searched but low results, offer downloads (what ever the subject is on) and have a PAYPAL donate button.

Worth a bash and their are some people that would donate! ;)

My idea I had a while ago was to make a site where people donate say £1 or £2 to the pot. You have a forum running alongside it. Once the pot gets to hundreds of thousands of pounds you have a poll to pick a location. Obviously people will be picking their home town.

You then rent a open top bus and chuck most of the money off the top of it, keeping profit for yourself ofcourse

Both the National Lottery and Euromillions have affiliate programmes, though. I like to give the Euromillions result on my blog but I don't think I've signed anyone up yet, unfortunately the lottery site often goes down.

Rgds

Heh, I love that idea. Of course no matter which town is picked loads of people (most of whom probably didn't chip in) would burn it over to the town to pick up the wedge. Then you'd have all the party-poopers in the council complaining about congestion etc...

what about a million dollar pixel site....but instead of advertising you post a picture of your face....only 1 million people can do it and in years to come you could try and find your face....the more i think of it the more i like this one, anyone want in?

Would be a bit of a mission finding your face on 1 pixel :D

could be roll-overs so the pic gets bigger....be a laugh though trying to find yourself, might take a couple of years though

Slightly related. Don't know whether this is an advert for the success or failure of the pixel idea, but we all can remember the Million Dollar Home Page, where one grid of 10*10 pixely would cost $100. Well, here are a few domain names who's owners bought pixels from that famous page, and have since dropped the names. All are free to reg at this moment in time:

budget2.co.uk
icdomains.co.uk
immortelle.co.uk

digibusters.com
