Looking forward to seeing this chopped up into subdomains, and sold on for a profit

It easily has a street value of 10x what he paid for it

LOL. :)

I thought it was overpriced personally - I mean, there's not a lot you can do with it, surely?

For an anti-drugs site or forum, though, perfect.

I quite liked the name.

You can't argue that its not strong.

I could see it being used by an SEO or similar.

Agreed Mike, it's a strong name, generic, brandable possibly, etc. Just unsure how it could be developed (unless it's just parked). :)

Edit: 18,100 search exacts a month for the word, surprising. :D

Coke directory, Dealer network, Meet your dealer social, Coke hotspots, "Dodgy coke" map... the list is endless ;)

Lead generation for local dealers?

;)

Actually, you know what, the Police (or Talk To Frank) could really use the domain perhaps?!

I think it'd be a very good name for a design company or something of that nature. It's certainly very memorable. Maybe it would be offensive to some visitors though, who knows. I'll be interested to see what is done with it.

I'm looking forwarding to seeing the WHOIS change. On the face of it I feel it will be one of those "seemed a good idea at the time" registrations (similar to swear word registrations), but will end up doing largely nothing, except maybe a redirection to a Wikipedia page about "cocaine". Plus the buyer will be known as the person who paid £800 for it.

Agree - can't do anything big with this.

Isn't media or family friendly, so has lots of limitations - so many the name probably becomes pointless as a brand in itself.

The cocaine.co.uk domain name wouldn't be offensive, rather simple commercial suicide. If/when there's negative press about the effects of cocaine, any design company entitled "cocaine" might find their business dries up. I doubt much will be done with it.

What I mean is that some people might object to doing business with a company called Cocaine. I agree though that negative publicity could also do damage.

There is apparently an energy drink called Cocaine: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cocaine_%28drink%29 It had problems in the US due to the name, but is still for sale in Europe and online. I guess from a marketing perspective if you can use the notoriety to your advantage it might balance or even outweigh the restrictions and negative press. Maybe they bought it, or someone hoping to sell it to them?

I can imagine some type of techno rave electronic band called cocaine using it (the domain, not the drug).

Co uk is a diluted Market, should of gone for the Colombian extension.
Could ask the police for some good merchant names though.

What I would do is this -

Put up a 1 page website which has the title tag which appears in the serps as 'Buy Cocaine Online at Cheaper Prices than your local dealer'

When the arrive on the site, there would be a picture of some cocaine and a BUY NOW button. Once the BUY NOW button was pressed it took you to another page which then showed the persons IP address along with a location map. It would say alongside the map :

"Buying drugs is illegal. We have traced your IP address as xxxx and we will inform your local police that you had tried to buy drugs online

This can be avoided by making a minimum donation of £10 to your local drugs charity by clicking here (link to donation button)"

Well lets face it, someone who is stupid enough to shove some unknown white powder up their nose, bought online from a website probably would fall for it :)
