I've heard people say they "mine for generic domains daily".

What does this mean, how do they do it?

Thanks!

It's just a term meaning to search for domains, another one is "internet real estate" which means owning a place on the web. They are terms used to capture the imagination. So basically you have to look for domains either unregistered or already registered and being resold, another popular method is to pick up domains that are not being renewed by there owners.

So do people have any particular methods for searching for good domains? All I seem to be doing is just randomly trying to think of generic things, see if a few related keywords show any promise in google keyword tool, see if a relating domain is available. Rinse and repeat.

Cheers

Keep keeping on. But concentrate on quality not quantity and you can't go far wrong.

Use the google keyword tool, and the ipo website, registering an available awesome name with amazing exacts usually means there is a trademark or your lucky, check the former to help you avoid it.

You'll find you'll be more productive if you choose a sector and work on that.

I often start my free thinking word association to get a base of 20 words, then use the keyword tool to pump it to 50 then make word combos that make sense and have a good amount of local exacts (I aim for 500+ ish with good affiliate potential or 1,000 unless I like it).
