Hi,

Have made some changes to domtastic, would appreciate it if you guys gave it a bit of a hammering as I know it needs some tweeking

Any suggestions appreciated - you are the pros

www.domtastic.co.uk

many thanks

It's offered me 5-7.5K for the domain I entered, however the "sell domain.co.uk" link just drops back to the valuation page, so I guess I'm not about to get rich :)

Looks a good idea as long as the valuations are reasonably accurate.

You could also get a good supply of names being offered to you if the sell it link is more obvious. I guess you could put a bit of logic in the page to only offer the sell link if the domain reaches a certain percentage so you don't get the junk.

Domains Potential Value:
£30,000/£40,000+

Perfect - who want's to make me an offer :D

Thanks guys for taking the time to do this.

point taken have edited..

I have added opt in button.

sorry if anyone upset.

you are logging data?

Exactly! I was going to use it for a domain but at the end I decided to change the domain name just to see if the data was being logged and worse still --logged and displayed. So you wouldn't want to use this for a domain you were thinking of buying.

Not exactly ethical!!

Julian

You do not have a warning that you are data collecting and using that data for personal profit.. I hope you will remove data that people request removed!

Hi Julian

I own the vocal domain you chose to use as an example you may wish to edit your post and remove the domain

and add a privacy policy to your site?

Thanks
Simon

Not sure if it has just been added but there is a tick box:

Do you mind if this domain goes on our 'latest appraisals' page?
No I don't mind:

so I guess some opting in has occured?

That has been added in Rob, wasn't there before so a good addition.

We would appreciate some comments.. Mods can you edit julians post to remove data that wasn't requested to become public..

changes

sorry if I upset anyone - I assumed these domains people were happy to be open about - on the positive side they all had good figures :)

Just so everyone knows - the price will not published on website this remains private, only score.

Also your domains data will NOt be entered in DB in anyway if you choose 'opt out'.

If you choose to opt IN there is only an option for people look at or broker domain via sedo if they a click on the link(thats just an experiment too...) no big deal?

thanks for time

Displaying the recent domains is a great way of getting extra traffic.

I noticed a personal reg site that logs all the searched for registrations. Everytime you search google for a reg you pretty much get sent to their site!

Glad the option has been added though to your site though.

Hello Julian

Thank you for editing your post with my domain as an example, not upset but didn't realize that private information entered on one website would be used as an example on a domain name forum.

good luck with the new site.

Julian,

What's the relationship between score and value?
I get the following...

Domain Score:
Total: 58.95%

Domains Potential Value:
£Registration Fee

Dave

hi dave,

its complicated. umm basically its complex. Please pm the domain and i'll explain why it cam out at 58% £regFee

Also remember this system can not attribute your emotional attachment & perceived value of a domain.

e.g take: 1x23-KKJ-rtyZ.co.uk you may think is really brandable and the next best thing (it might be) but fact is its long, got double hyphens has x & Z etc in it so it will come out bad score & value... savvy?

People are drastically over rating their domains also - the problem with any domain valuation is - a part of domain valuation is always subjective...
