I recently paid DropCatcher in advance (http://www.dropcatcher.co.uk) for some future drops - but no credits are showing and there has been no response for over a week to my other emails, past the inital email from Chris Holland stating it would be looked into.

Problems? Or simply done a runner with my cash?

Anyone know how reputable this company/set-up is? Or isn't? Should I give them some more time?

Regards

They are reputable.

But keep trying to contact them.

They post on this forum.

they can take a while to reply depending on what of their many email addresses you are trying.

i have delt with DC quite a few times now and they are reputable so dont worry.

i would reply to the dropcatcher email and see if they reply quicker to that.

Update: Dropcatcher have now responded and sorted the issue.

Well done guys.

DC refunds?

hi all,

i emailed dropcatcher in august 05 asking if they could refund my credits, as i remember on the detagged forum that they used to state that they would always refund credits if requested. i now have 7 unused credits, and they have gone down in value as i paid the old price for them, but have had no response... i've just tried again as well. do you think they will still honour this?

i did have a few catches through dropcatcher and was quite pleased but now it seems i am being ignored.

i could really do with the money at the moment too.

One thing saying you will get the money another getting it.

Reserve judgement until then

olebean,

i just successfully accepted a PayPal Electronic Funds Transfer into my account.

feel free to unreserve your judgement now :)

They caught successfully for me today.

Remember you can't expect to pay £30 odd quid or whatever it is and get a £10k name - that just wouldn't make sense to anyone. But for names that a low number of people are trying to catch they'll do it every time and IF you have to have it, then they are the people to use.

err, thanks for the unrequested advice ratboy... however i knew this already. i've been following the uk domain scene for a long time now, despite not being an actual catcher with a tag myself.

dropcatcher have caught a good few names for me over the years. the reason that i had 7 empty slots is that they were booked a very long time ago and i just hadn't reallocated them. i don't know if you know but dropcatcher were [commercially, as in you could pay them to catch for you] the best dropcatchers back in the day and caught a good few PRIME domains.

it used to.

As many new to the scene use dropcatcher I just thought this might be useful advice.

fair point ratboy- i guess i did throw my rattle out of my pram a bit! i was stressed from a work issue and think i let it show in my reply. apologies if i sounded a little off!

I booked a slot for a name that dropped recently. I checked the whois a day or so later and found it free, so beat DC with a manual reg and then cancelled the DC slot. A disappointing service for me, for that particular name. Still, I did save >£20 by going through 123reg and doing it manually, so I can't complain too loudly.
