Having been the first company to allow you to list in unicode and punycode, the first to display all IDN domains perfectly on the parked page, NameDrive are proud to announce that we are now the first domain monetization company to offer full IDN support. We now return ads in every language around the world, you can input keywords in non-Latin characters, related searches are logged in all character sets.
There will clearly be some starting bugs, but we're delighted to bring you yet another first in domain parking.

Ed

Ed, can you please explain a little more into what this new feature is.

I was always a bit slow at school! :p

Hi DB,

If you're not sure about it, then it probably won't affect you :D

IDN domains are domains in native characters for countries which do not use the 'normal' Latin alphabet. This can range from anything easy such as the German Köln.de to complex Japanese オークション.jp. (Stole that from Yahoo.jp, hope it's not rude...)
Parking these types of domains is fraught with all sorts of database, coding, communication difficutlies which no other company has been bothered to look into. Considering the fact there are many billion people living in countries where the Internet is moving away from Latin characters to their own characters, the step we have taken is obviously one looking to the future. People who own IDN domains (of which you appear not to be one :)) can now park them with us as easily as parking Latin-character domains.
This doesn't mean we're not losing focus on the Latin character sides of things which is clearly the dominant force in the market currently...

Thank you Ed, I understand now :) Yeah it wont affect me.

Cool feature, keep up the great work guys!

Means "auction" so you're ok :)

Am I wrong in thinking that the adverts produced by IDN will also be in the foreign language ?.

DG

Hi DG,

This is mainly the point. Google have taken a long time in reacting (partly the reason it's taken us so long) to ads in native characters. However, if you now have a look at a previewed page in Japanese, Russian or Arabic, you'll see the page covered in lovely native language ads :)

By the way, Canvas 2 has now been unleashed in the templates. Have fun.

Ed

Canvas 2 is another great addition.

Can I request that the 'dating' header is changed from Green to Pink or somthing a bit more 'romantic' whatever that is :D

Yes, I suppose that makes sense, really. That green is better for unleaded petrol.

Ed,

I have a number of .eu domains that convert the original native word to the 'normal' Latin alphabet. ie;

Österreich / oesterreich

Thüringen / thueringen

Fußball / fussball

България/ bulgaria.........just hypotheatheratcallly!

I have tried using the original words as keywords but I can only see "my region" results, in English.

Do I assume that the results I see are simply translated into the native language
for Europe ?

However some keywords like "България" or "Հայաստան" do not trigger any results !

Having seen the performance last night, I think we can presume the world cup is over.
Very sorry for not replying to this Texi.

Putting keywords including the special characters, such as österreich will return results for that keyword in countries where Google has them - e.g. in Österreich. You can input keywords both with the special characters or without - i.e. oesterreich and Google will return ads for the keywords if people have bid on them.
You can preview which keywords are triggered across all major languages in the world by clicking on the magnifier next to the domain and then choosing the country of your choice to see which ads turn up for viewers from those countries.

Sorry again for the delay. Let me know if you have any more questions and I'll try and get an answer before July.
