Great move Ebay....

It has been going downhill for a while... this could be nail in coffin time!

I just dont see how they can make a move like this...

Alot of people buying are going to leave negative for very small things knowing that they cant have anything bad left on their feedback record.

Im a powerseller and have 100% positive feedback, even getting one negative feedback would really get to me.

eBay have forgotten what made them what they are and their core visitors.

I imagine a big rival or group comming to take them on shortly.

Did anyone see their embarrasing new search facility over the last 2 months.

Everyone was telling them it was useless, I couldn't find anything and they kept telling everyone it was better. " months on and millions lost, guess what? They have gone back to their old system in an embarrasing U turn.

They are just waiting for someone to take them on, good luck to whoever does it. They'll have my support.

I got so pissed off at their new search today that I went to my local ad paper site instead.

I even clicked their OPT OUT link that randomly appeared and that did nothing.

I hate ebay more by the min and REALLY want a competitor.

Surely we can get together and do it? :)

What ever happened to qxl, they were just as big as ebay to start with and plump, all but sank without trace.

Can't believe they didn't invest more.

eBay

ebay is a massive tax dodging business that is now based in southern Ireland. They dodge liability like they dodge their responsibility. I use them and their system to my benefit where poss, watch out for craigslist.....

Trademe.co.nz

Trademe.co.nz .... Ebay never had a chance in New Zealand with a site like this already established. Simple and straightforward. Everything Ebay isn't!

You can't control everything sometimes. I got a neutral because the buyer couldn't put his new ipod screen into his ipod, saying it was a fake chinese screen.
I asked what's the problem.
His ipod is a second generation and he bought a first generation screen: they don't fit.
The buyer was not even aware that there were 2 diffeent ipod generation at that time...I sent him the good one, but I got my neutral. It could have been a neg one easy...

It has caused uproar with many Ebay sellers.

Especially now that all neutrals that sellers received in the past 12 months now count as negatives against your over all percentage score.

As a regular ebay buyer, and previous ebay seller, I think the new system is great. i've been a member of ebay since before it even came to the UK, and over the last few years i've been sick to death of sellers who dont leave feedback until the buyer has left his. This amounts to feedback extortion as far as I'm concerned.

Time after time I've seen sellers use this a way to leverage either good or 'no' feedback in fear of the buyer being given a retaliatory Neg if they tell it how it is. Crap Sellers would then use the 'mutual withdrawl' system to have the Neg removed from their account, and frustrated buyers who had previously got an unblemished record would go along with it to have their neg removed.

How any seller can justify leaving neg or even neutral after they've been paid is beyond me.... Couldnt have come sooner as far as i'm concerned, perhaps now we'll get some proper feedback given out, and sellers with dodgy practices need to be worried!

my sister was stung with this

Basically she has her own zend website and sells stuff on ebay, anyway she sold some brooch pins to a muppit on ebay who left negative feedback 'Pins were twisted & snappd. Refunded postage to value of £2.00'

you can read the muppit buyers comments here

http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayI...1&de=off&items=25&which=negative&interval=365

anyway big sis compained to ebay with photo proof, harassment emails, comments the troublemaker left on her website. Did the ebay muppits listen, no they barred my sister from ebay.

ebay is a "dead man walking". its grown to big for its boots and unless you are the best seller ever, you cannot contact them by phone only via email (which I happen to think has got be illegal somewhere) and they take ages t reply.

ive used ebid before, but their just as bad. we used to have 500-600 items at once in our eBay "shop" but due to the listing and final valuation fees, we've reduced it right down to 50 or so and spent the saved money on google ads instead

ebay will go the way of QXL. it seems to forget that its the people who use it to buy and sell stuff are the ones who keep it going. id love someone to organise a strike, no one list anything on ebay for say 48 hours, in every category. imagine how much they'd lose. nothing like people power!

i reckon that they have lost a fortune on ebay motors,i remember four to five years ago when the motor section peaked the poor auto trader was tiny, now look at it? my paperboy leaves it outside because he can't get the thing through the post box.when i used to check for cars on ebay because of all the priorty listings on ending soonest it used to go to page 42 before the listings started now i think it is at 13.

What really ticked me off is when they changed their policy on Ebooks. Sellers are now limited to a single page instead of being found through search.

Its going downhill fast.

That's not strictly true. As a 'valued' ebay member I have a phone number on my ebay page/login where I can call and speak to someone directly if I have a problem or concern.I'm not a power seller, feedback 1700 and a member for 7 years. I've done this twice now and it was useful and not just a person reading form a script. They removed libellous feedback comments removed instantly.

Ebay have stated they are heading towards a 'Market Place' environment and I take that to mean they will be phasing out the auction business and all Ebay will be is shops under one roof.

It seems to be they are introducing more and more 'improvements' that are geared towards alienating users. I only use Ebay as it has the greatest exposure of all auction sites. I think it needs some huge investment in brand awareness on say ebid to break the monopoly they have.

Just because Ebay are dominant it might not stay that way. Tech/Internet history are littered with companies that owned the world and ended up with nothing due to incredibly bad business decisions. Ebay are no different, look at Skype :)
