LEAVING MONEY ON THE EFFING TABLE

haha - so I find a couple of things hilarious:

1) people who still believe they can make a full time income through DL alone - HAHAHA wake the F up - look at the stats. It is close to impossible just based on the volume of trades - WAKE UP!!!!!!!
2) people leave money on the table. If you are new at domaining and don't want to throw darts at a dart board - STOP LEAVING MONEY ON THE TABLE. Open your eyes. Here's an example of making money - I just noticed a domain on DL Has a bid. The domain is WeddingWishList.co.uk - now the .uk is not part of the deal but is available to register. HELLLLOOOOOO - buy that and list it. That at least increases your chances for a deal....

For the last couple of years, I had great success with outreach. But after a while, you start to get a bit lazy, a bit complacent, because suddenly you've got a pool of buyers to take your domain. When people ask me the best way of selling, I truly believe it's a combination of good outreach, grey market trades, e.g. domainer to domainer, client list, auctions, forums. But like anything in life it's the 80/20 rule. 80% of trades will come from 20% of your outputs.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Stop thinking DL is a salary, and start to look at it properly and at least go for the lower hanging fruits.....

I think perhaps some of the veterans in this forum should also highlight the point that DL is not an income stream for domains.

I've certainly enjoyed success selling on Domainlore, though I appreciate that outsource sales can certainly be more profitable, but equally much less common, so perhaps the two approaches achieve the same end result.

Success is relative, I can't imagine there is enough domains in terms of quantity to pass through Domainlore a month from one individual for anyone to consider it a " full time income" . Pocket money, sideline yes of course and probably a nice sideline for some. That said I've never seen anyone say they consider it such either.

I can't see there being many not in the old boys club or high end catchers who see any single revenue stream as a full time income. Its more 10 streams make your revenue river, DL is just just 1 stream.
That old saying, "Don't put all your eggs in one basket" springs to mind!

I think with domainlore volume of trades decrease in the recent months, its better to list your best names and leave others for inbound/outbound sales but with little uk monthly reported sales that afraid me a little, whether it's the right choice to hold domains for long term, as it may end up a little gamble with more renewals to pay for.

Exactly the opposite. If you list your best names, you’ll be letting them go very cheaply and you’ll be left with the so-so stuff.

ok, you are right but to clarify my thought, i mean for example I'm not a big fan of keeping 3 letters domains for long term so listing them in domainlore will give more money to spend in more inventory.

also what do you think about keeping domains for long term those days ?

What inventory? Everything decent is long long gone.

If your business model is to buy domains on the aftermarket then sell them on DL the sums are unlikely to work in your favour...

you're always very sensitive. I've noticed..not getting enough hugs ;)

When you approach a talking point, it makes it a lot more palatable if the premise isn't "you're all idiots! here's why..."

A positive "Hey this is something that's working out well for me, anyone else doing it?" works better.

Especially when you consider that his next post was in reply to a "one word dictionary domains that are .co.uk" with great examples as slotsreal.uk and shorttermbridging.uk :D If you can't make a profit from domains/domainlore, maybe you are doing it wrong ;)

**tongue in cheek of course**

Murray - you need a hug - clearly read way too much into my post - how's that for palatable ;)

@ian hahahahaha true.....copied and pasted a bunch and couldn't be bothered to go in and edit.....

Sadly, for the mass of domain investors who actually don't do well, it would be sad if this post is about me, versus more about helping others by sharing their techniques and tactics. As earlier posts in this thread have been about....
