New 2013 Registrar meeting?

Due to Nominet not providing the 2013 .uk policy forum meeting and postponing the 2013 Registrar meeting, with no future date fixed.

Propose that those interested arrange a meeting open to all Nominet registrars, including the top 20 (and even the wider UK stakeholder community?) to debate and discuss;

• Nominet’s decision on .uk and their way forward (whatever it is)
• Nominet Security Road Map
• The new Registrar agreement
• Expiring UK domain policy
• Registration policy for UK domain names
• The new gTLD’s and their effect on the UK namespace
• Suggested changes to be made at Nominet
• What 'can be' / 'should be' done to improve the UK namespace
• Any other business

Suggest the meeting be held in;

• Central London
• Thursday 20/11/2013
• From 9.30am to 4.30pm
• Full Agenda and independent chair to help the flow of the meeting
• Ideally done as a Webcast (can anybody help on this?)

Nominet Director’s, Executive and Staff members would be welcome to attend.

Any ideas for a venue (not the expensive Nominet venues please as I’m on a tight budget?)

If anybody has a full list of email addresses of all UK registrars, that could be used to publicise this meeting, that would be most helpful.

If any votes were proposed, would try to publicize them early, so proxy votes can be made by those unable to attend.

If anybody was able to help contribute to some of the costs of ‘room hire’, I would be grateful but if needed I will pay all the event costs, to ensure this important meeting happens.

Any observations, suggestions, comments as always would be most welcome.

For those that don't want to post, if you are interested in attending and would like to register or be kept up to date,
you can email me at [email protected] in the first instance, until something else can be established.

Some people who have contacted me directly have suggested certain 'speakers', I would like to see the balance between providing and a platform for debate and a series of 'speeches /presentations' any ideas?

Best of luck with it. Won't be able to make it myself as I won't be in the country on that day, but it sounds like it could be very interesting, especially if Nominet persist with .uk - and we should know by then even if they drag their feet a little with the announcement.

Yes thanks to help with the organization, I really appreciate it. Will contact you directly to bring you up to speed.

The £15 rate you refer to is only for the evening, but options are being worked on by another registrar.

Also have obtained some quotes from other suitable London venues.

It is proving difficult to guess numbers as it will very much depend on Nominet's decision on .uk but to arrange meeting venue and date, it is prudent to book it now and so people can incorporate it into their schedules.

Not sure if it going to be a Nominet Registrar meeting or jointly with Acorn members, as all contacts and people wanting to attend so far have been directly from people with their own TAG's.

Sorry I still cannot post a revised date for the "Alternative 2013 Nominet UK registrar meeting", due to the lack of news or updates from Nominet on;

• The replacement date for the postponed Nominet 2013 registrar meeting

Sorry I cannot advise the venue, as without the Nominet decisions, registrars will not be able to decide, on whether they wish to attend an alternative meeting, so numbers wanting to attend cannot be estimated.

Sorry I cannot post the details / agenda of an alternative meeting as without the published Nominet decisions and time to review published feedback for .uk consultation, no idea of what needs to be debated.
