Just wondering what number of hits per month would be
the "norm" for a moderate domain ?. One of the domains gets
around 12,000 hits PM ,is that poor, average or good ?.

Thanks

"Hits" means nothing, it is total unique visitors you need to look at.
One of my sites had 6,645 "hits" yesterday alone, but just over 100 unique visitors.

Once you have established how many uniques, then how well targeted are those visitors to your web site? Are they likely to use or buy something from the site once they arrive there?

Your web logging software should log individual IP addresses of visitors visiting your site, this is a unique identifier for that visitor.

A "hit" includes every element of every page so if your homepage has 50 photos on it then 1 visitor will create 50 "hits" plus whatever other elements make up your homepage.

What web stats software or site are you using?

Im using Webalizer Version 2.01 and yes I do see what you mean now
thanks. When I look at hits it is much smaller number. Overture says
68 for Dec 2004.

68 OV with the domain extension? or for the search term?

Webalizer is an industry standard webstats system and should give you a good idea of what is happening on your site.

Hi

OK without the .co.uk and seperating the 2 words the result
is 7540 .With the .co.uk and the 2 words joined as in the domain
the result is 68

It is quite interesting that overture and makes me puzzle as
to how hyphens go down in search engines. Often I puzzle
over phrases as to whether the results would be better if domain
has hyphens or not ??

Thanks
