Yep

I noticed as well, the UK inventory is showing March and has been all month, I had expected it too update around the 20th May.

The US inventory is still showing Jan !

In some respects to a degree in my own personal point of view you dont really need updated figures anyway

If you do casino for example as a search, casino will probaly always be on top and in the top 100 for example there will be only minor fluxuations.

Something such as jail or prison for example will suddenly rise due to paris "never spits" hilton.

Also some search terms vary from season to season so something like christmas present or last minute christmas present isnt going to make a massive impact until late october for example or the last few weeks of December.

Agreed some domains are seasonal but that makes it all the more important to see the relevant overture results. Take 'ChristmasPuddings' - not a lot of point looking at the March 07 results. I'd like to see October, Nov, Dec. A lot of Gift,Job,Travel, Sport, domains are seasonal so updated Overture results are essential to the domainer.

But haven't you got a lot of borderline domains on your list? Quite nice names but is it a reg or not? March 07 may not give a positive result but if only we could see April 07 or May 07! Yes you can work from the March 07 list but it may not give that extra information that you need to reg those profitable domains :)

My understanding is that a lot of US/Worldwide domain investors use the US overture link I posted. Overture must know that they are displaying Jan 07 results. I heard rumours recently that Overture were thinking of withdrawing their facility. Does anyone know whether this is true and is there any significance in these way out of date results?

People use overture because its old skool way of buying domains if I'm being honest.

I have done the same, had an idea for a domain, e.g casino, do a search for casino and got the results through.

casino this
casino that

Oh this domain is available casinomoney it has 578 searches per month for it.

But you can have a domain like that and it not earn you money, personally I think its only the top top top type ins that earn money like casino.

A lot of myth surrounding overture is I think old hat as search engines particually google change and sometimes if you look at results sometimes if you do a search for a particular word, sometimes its only 2 obviously names that are there.

The rest are more brand names, I have let domains go because they havent met what I was hopeing for them

http://www.christmas-january-sales.co.uk/ is I think being dropped in 2008, I could have probaly turned it around and done something else with it, but it's got three main words in it, christmas, january and sales but with hyphons.

So a lot of the old style tricks are losing steam and the modern era of search engines are slowly coming upon us.

The market will probaly drop for domain name selling in the end and a big massive crash whats the point of having a domain if its not making money?

Once people realise this and see this then it will be like the wall street stock crash and the really valuable domains will rise in value.

** Update

Just to prove a point

http://www.google.co.uk/search?num=100&hl=en&q=christmas+sales&meta=cr=countryUK|countryGB

http://www.google.co.uk/search?num=100&hl=en&q=january+sales&meta=cr=countryUK|countryGB

http://www.google.co.uk/search?num=100&hl=en&q=christmas+january+sales&meta=cr=countryUK|countryGB

If I done SEO work on it then it might be up there but as it is then most is from the BBC or other related websites, shopping sites hardly get a look in.

Well Mark !

For us old schoolers - OVT provides a means of indentifying potential registrations that have type in traffic.

I buy a lot a domains to park and I personally think it provides a good indication of whether it is worth the reg or catching fee. There are no guarantees, and I have regged stuff with 20+ OVT scores that earn nowt, I also have a few that don't show up on OVT but each click of the few clicks they get is $1.00 plus and you only need a couple of those a month to :)

Having up to date OVT is of value as there are trends in the market and as with all data, the older it is the less value.

My thoughts anyway.

Oh and by the way Mark - it is also against Adsense rules to put screen shots of your earnings for public display - naughty naughty - suggest you ask Admin to remove the post before someone shops you.

Indeed but watch this space, the market will eventually collapse leaving old skoolers with worthless stock.

I cant see it collapsing for the next year or so but within five years at best then the market will be completly changed.

The right domains will be worth their weight in gold and the chaff with just be worthless.

Already google are putting at the bottom of search results that you can find more results under these words so will that be the death of 30 onwards of search listings?

Dark skies are looming and people and still riding the wave, myself included sometimes in the end waves coming crashing to the shore.

The domains that will be valuable will be something very generic such as companydirector or similar, it wont be something like company-director in the end.

Not forgetting a possible emergence from other extenstions into the fray such as org.co.uk and others so a lot of stuff will end up being in a huge mixing pot ready to stew.

Already a huge clearance of domains going on and in the end people will just end up with the more valuable ones and drop the chaff.

Overture UK - Now Showing April 07

Dear All

Overture updated itself this morning and now any results are based on the UK Inventory on April 07 search queries.
