FYI, Quora just launched self-serve advertising
https://www.quora.com/business

They're rated the 116th busiest site in the world by Alexa, and even back in 2014 they were claiming more than 100 million unique visitors, so I expect there will be lots of impression volume available.

I'd also expect the ads to be (relatively) cheap at first until they build advertiser volume. Put another way, you're unlikely to ever have less competition for bids than on Day 1!

From this TechCrunch article, it seems you'll be able to target by topic area, location and platform

It's a top 100 site in the UK, though most of the questions seem very US-oriented to me.

The question is, is it an advertising platform? We're running a campaign, so I will update here when I have more data.

My guess - and it's no more than that - is that if your ad looks like it answers the question (I don't mean by deceptively looking like content, but by seeming to offer a solution) then it could get good traction. More importantly, conversions may be high...

It's keyword based rather than question based, and you have a very limited number of characters, so that's a tough ask!

If you put question mark at then end of the url for a question you won't get annoying prompts or popups that stop you scrolling through an answer. Just thought I'd share that :)
eg https://www.quora.com/What-would-happen-if-the-Earth-abruptly-stopped-spinning-for-42-seconds vs https://www.quora.com/What-would-happen-if-the-Earth-abruptly-stopped-spinning-for-42-seconds?
Thanks for that Rob, I ended up reading all the theories on what would happen if the Earth stopped spinning...I hope it doesn't, I have a backlog of jobs to do now :D

lol I know right - it's so easy to get sucked into pointless questions and answers. It's like when I go to youtube to watch a subscription video for quantum physics and then end up watching people fall off trampolines.

Yeah, Quora is a real magnet. It's almost impossible to avoid heading down one rabbit hole or another when you're reading the replies to a question.

(BTW, the stickiest site I know is TVTropes... I don't think I've made it out of there in under a couple of hours, ever! As a kindness, I've not provided a direct link, but if you like your geek pop culture it's the motherlode.)

Nothing much to report on this. A week in and we've seen close to sod-all impressions and absolutely sod-all clicks.
