Morning :D

I am after a little advice on adding products to my site, as some will know I haven't got a clue what I am doing so I end up asking very basic questions that probably drive people mad:confused:

I have started building my minisites which has been a huge learning experience, I would like to say I have retained some of what I have learned but time will tell, I am now at the stage were I want to add products to two of my sites so I have joined the affiliate programs but:

Should I choose individual products and fit them into a page somehow, is there a plugin or something on Wordpress that has a template to have a shop page on a site with content?

What about product feeds? Were can I look to understand these and how to use them, have managed to find some information but struggling to figure out how to use them effecientley.

Storeburst? Yes or No, shall I use storeburst rather than trying to build a load of little minisites?

Any tips or pointers very welcome.

Thanks in advance

Aiden

I used this http://www.affiliateblitzkrieg.com/ at first but found it a little basic so I bastardized it, re-wrote it, and binned it now.

I have found in my particular niche that too many products sell less. I now manually build my posts (and gently spin the descriptions) and only have 2-5 products in each category.

Have you looked at Content units ?

Great Thanks skinner

I will take a look, please tell me about content units are they a wordpress plugin?

Thanks

Aiden

They are brilliant are they done with easy content units?

Aiden

No they are not easy content units (ECU), although you could achieve something very similar with ECU (you can see examples here.

ECU is easy to use but the disadvantage is the cost - either a monthly fee or revenue share. Take a look at datafeedstudio as an alternative.

I wasn't meaning ECU's.

I use PaidOnResults content units (Content Creator / Content Units) all the time, they are simple java script blocks of various sizes which pull information out of merchants feeds. I use them to fill my side bars and sometimes actual pages. Since the merchant updates them directly too, so minimal work.

Thanks skinner and springer

I will take at look at them, hopefully find one that's idiot proof (me).

Really appreciate your help.

Content Units

Still waiting for Easy Content Units to come back so I can read the bumf

Had a look at Datafeed Studio but it looks complicated for someone with my very little experience, or is it?

Paid on Results is simple enough to create units but struggled to find enough products in my niches to make a good show, maybe I will buy domains to fit the merchants or maybe I am missing something?

I for now have ended up using an Amazon plugin which is OK but not really what I was trying to achieve, ah well nobody said it would be easy.

Thank for all your help so far.

I have found very focussed domain names with a little cross and up selling work best with content blocks.

Aiden, I have something that may be right up your street, it's free, it covers awin, buy.at, ebay, affili.net, tradedoubler and paidonresults with linkshare and kelkoo to follow.

There is no revenue share, just a 'Powered by...' link at the bottom of each unit, which links to the site that you create the units on, so, not a competitive link.

It's fairly exclusive (less than 30 users), so, you won't be pushing the same s***te as everyone else.

It works as javascript, php and straightforward html.

PM me if you want to know more.
