sedo redirects

Hi

On a couple of occassions when calling up names I have for sale on sedo, I've been immediately presented with a click through page which without prompt redirects to groupon.

Has anyone else had this problem.

yes, I quizzed them and its to do with domains that get little traffic are filtered to another ad provider. If you try and re optimize your domain you might find this goes back to a normal sedo page.

Is this a joke ? I put the name on to sell it, how am I going to get an offer from groupon ?

I typed in the name today and was directed to

which went on to

I've not seen this redirect to Groupon in action, but I had an offer on a domain I sold on Sedo recently, I didn't know what the buyer was on about when part of his message with his next offer said:

Now you have linked the site to groupon which can only damage it for future google rankings

Rather worrying – that few pence in revenue could cost me a sale, and might have done already.

I have asked for it to be disabled but it does concern me that it was enabled in the first place, without my consent.

I don't want you to think me ungrateful I have earned 0.03 euros through your parking service on this domain, but I did put this particular domain on sedo to sell it and it has a buy now price added.
And you introduce a feature which means the searcher does not even find my domain sales page and then you tell me that I have to do the additional work of contacting customer services to get to where I expected to be in the first place.

From, what I can see Sedo enable this for domains which have been blocked from from Google's adervertising network, for all sorts of reasons.

A simple check is to use the following URL subsituted with your own domain name in place of google.co.uk

http://domains.googlesyndication.com/apps/domainpark/domainpark.cgi?client=ca-dp-adultcheck_xml&s=google.co.uk

If it shows up as "faillisted" (as per the name used) then it won't be serving up Ads from any parking company who uses a Google feed, although like Sedo others have secondary moniterisation partners. It will also in the XML response tell you if the domain is classed as adult or not, a common reason why a domain gets banned as advertisers complain if their ads are showing up on the wrong sorts of parked domains, based on my experience Google just ban the domain rather question why!

If it show a page of links of advertising catergories then you know it is OK.

And there lies the problem. If the domain is fine but the traffic just isn't to the big G's liking – and it ends up getting the ZeroClick treatment, the chances of the domain ever selling are very slim indeed. As there isn't a 'for sale' link, they simply get redirected elsewhere – goodbye potential buyer.

It displays a picture of a women and says "hot girls looking for fun" and there is no way to cancell the page unless you click start now.
I clicked start now but it's asking me for my date of birth and email address

pressed the back button and it brought me to http://badoo.com/

no way could I get a buy this domain link.


I can't see that sedo are a party to this, I think the name has been highjacked through their system and they don't want to admit it.

Thanks guys i have just done a test on a domain name parked at Sedo and it redirected to groupon once on this page if you use the back button it will take you through a list of all other ads linked to groupon This is not what i wanted as all my domains parked at Sedo are for sale on my complaint to sedo thay told me it was redireceted as ...... sedoparking/mydomain.co.uk i had to change my DNS. to ns1.sedoparking.com etc this was done and still get the groupon link
by opting out of the zero click are the domains still classed as Parked ! as this makes a differance to commision on low fixed price £xx = 10% (unparked = £35)

Before xmas i was redirecting around 4k visits a day to groupon (through affil window) via some of my domains. None of the domains were of adult, gambling or trademarks. Sending traffic directly to them is allowed in there terms.
I was making quite a lot each day until they decided to put a stop to it as a domain i had, RecruitServices.co.uk had an old link on a job site from when it was a site years ago..

I was certainly making much much more than 0.03 euros per click !

Appears to be one rule for one and another for others...

This is just an abuse of trust
When I go to the domain today it brings me to dsnextgen.com/?o_id=177234&domainname=bluetouth.com&query= (with the domain name following it and a page with no link to a sales page for my domain )
there is an option to search the page which is monstermarketplace that then presents a search page for the results of the domain terminology, but no link to a sale page.

Picking up on 'fastworlds' post - perhaps you could clarify something please.

I picked up on this topic as I have a couple of domains parked with SEDO for some months now - which have done very little at all in terms of generating traffic/revenue.

I have checked and they do seem to be re-directiung to a correct SEDO Parking page - so apparently no problem there.

I was intrigued however by your comment that you had been re-directing some of your domains to Groupon.

In the context of this topic was this domains that were 'parked' ??? - or domains that you hosted elsewhere.

If the former - Just how can one do this via Affil Window ??
- and can you re-direct to specific types of Groupon offer ??

After all if this is possible it is another option for several domains I have that are not proving productive in terms of parking services.
