Can anybody recommend from experience the best way of selling a plate, auction at Ebay, or maybe on one of the bigger companies online.

Looking to sell it quite quickly so swaying towards Ebay, but if somebody has another suggestion, then any advice would be much appreciated...

LBE on here sold one recently via auction so he might be the man to ask.

I did indeed and had the cheque only yesterday, I've used reg transfers for almost 30 years and been very pleased with them.

PM me if need more info happy to share

Dave

Thanks for your help Sean...

Dave, thanks for replying, I think you may have answered my question, if you've been using Reg Transfers for 30 years without any problems, then that's a good enough recommendation for me.

Reg is C2 OAK if anybody is interested, or know's somebody that might be, please send me a PM. Will leave until tomorrow morning to put it up for auction.

It's not a good time to sell at the moment, but anything will sell if the price is right. I only used the auction for my last one as I needed to sell it fast as I'd bought a much better one. I was pleased with got I got for a fast sale (more than it cost me) but I usually hold out for my price. Over the 30 years the average time to sell has been about 3-6 months, however my recent one had been with them for over 2 years, however untill I put it in the auction I wasn't desperate to sell as it was on my car as an "investment" and was holding out for about 3-4 times what it cost me.

Hope that helps and good luck. I found it really isn't worth trying to advertise yourself as they have a huge mailing list and charge nothing for advertising, just a % if it sells. Only other costs are if YOU DECIDE to place in an auction. Auctions typically get fast sales but at a big discount on what you'd get if you hold out for a price.

Thanks again Dave for your advice...

Don't desperately need the cash straight away, so i'll follow your advice and contact them, and get it put on their books.

I would also put it on newreg and national numbers.

You can do it all online, they will give you a valuation by email which you can amend to what you want. Their valuation is what they think they could get fairly quickly as it's in their interest to make a sale quick, but it's no problem increasing it to what you want.
