Skimlinks, I've just came across them, looks like a good proposition. Is anyone using them, if so any feedback?

thanks,

Fish

Hi there, is an easy soloution if you have no time to create aff links - plus no hassle when merchants change programs. Have used on one site in the past.

Only issues that cross my mind is you are then filling your site with standard outbound links (something you may/may not want to do) also if skmlinks took off on a large scale its probably good news if you are a merchant (lots of inbound links!) and potentially could not be such good news if you are an aff site competing in the same search space! All IMO of course.

I think they reject your site if those outbound links aren't already there when submitted

It's very easy to implement and to find merchants. For someone who wants to monetise their content behind the scenes or someone who wants to set and forget it works well.

They are good if you are using UGC but 25% is their commission - a bit pricey if you ask me - it depends on what kind of website you are applying them too.

thnx all for comments so far.

- agree the commish level is a bit steep
- good point about links too

Cheers

True...
Depends on the merchant though. If they have a tiered scheme going from 5% to 10% and your site would get 5% but Skimlinks are on 10% (due to their high volume) then you are still better off.

Anyone got an example of them ona site which generates decent ££ using skimlinks?

Clickthroughs 298
Number of sales 15
Order value £76.74
Earned commission £11.88
Conv.Rate 5.03%
eCPC £0.040

Based off 16 days setup on a forum with about 270,000 posts and 3500-4000 visits a day with 40,000-50,000 pages served.

I am sure some thread engineering could change that higher, eg asking 'what have you just bought online and from where' :)

Edit: digging through skimlinks stats, that rev is 100% via ebay. so really ought to DIY it !

Which forum is that Rob? Not wethinkrobtaylorisboring.co.uk is it?

It reminds me, I really need to get to work on RatCatcher.co.uk

I use SL. Can't fault them. I make a good 10-15% of my turnover through them :) Mark is always on hand to sort out any problems and always open to new ideas (infact I've been told they are in the process of implementing calling the js code via ajax, which was an idea I suggested) :)
