I finally got my right of residency of Romania certificate today (cheer), I said is that it, after four weeks of walking all over Bucharest, getting things stamped, signed, notarised, forgetting stuff, misunderstanding things, this little certificate, that's it, "yep that's it", he says. So I'm now a woooah I'm an alien, I'm a legal alien, I'm an Englishman in Ro mania. haha

Now to do some work, I've some catching up to do.

If you're anything like me i.d suggest scanning it. Well done. Does it make much difference? Any tax breaks or discounts for anything because you aren't an alien any more?

Well I am an alien, just a legal one, as a British citizen you can stay in most countries for up to 3 months without telling anybody, but I wanted to stay here longer so needed a visa/to register.

Most speak limited or good English, language was only ever going to be a small problem - although southern accent isn't easy for them, one mate jokingly asks me sometimes "where did you learn English?."

If it was a big problem I'd have simply learned basic Romanian, which I'm going to do soon anyway now I have extended visa. Just got to see how much that will cost and if I wish to do home or class and if class it would have to be a small one as I can't stand slow teachers.

I've never had a brass, even when a lot were at it in Budapest. I just don't see the point in paying for it. I can buy a nice meal and feel far more satisifed and for longer and I won't have to see the doc in a few days.

You may find one of those "learn to speak Romanian" audio CDs in MP3 format if you search around on some torrent sites. Not the same as proper tuition but may tide you over if you need to go to the clap clinic

I know how to clap, I just see pink, alice cooper, marilyn manson and faithless in concert. Rolling stones up next.
