Excellent Domain for Travel Agents.

Will listen to serious offers via PM.

Yeah the thing is hes still post things like "Will listen to serious offers via PM" like does he even get any PMs

Award to the worst sales man :D

I dont understand why a domain such as this doesnt sell.

It has great marketing potential. Easy to remember.
Most people going on Foreign Holidays are going for the "Sunny Weather".

I will consider offers in the early-mid £xxx

its the way of the beast.. some names sell some dont.

posting the same name over and over (and then bumping it by saying "will now take £750, now take £500 etc) will only wind people up.

you could try any of the following?:

post on ebay
get sedo to auction and then promote on all forums (+ email travel agents)
put up at a fixed price (dont reduce, dont relist)
try another forum
contact travel agents direct.
or cut your losses and flip the name

hope that helps you a little :)

Thanks for that Decon I have avoided some of the above methods due to the following.

I have domains listed at Sedo all without prices and they have received litte/no interest. I find that ebay gets you rock bottom prices.

I have tried contacting parties directly informing them of the availability of a particular domain and then, in the vast minority of cases, been accused of spamming! And given the fact that many spammers are being forced to pay out at small claims court I now avoid that route.

I have many domains, which, in my humble opinion, are marketing dreams but admittedly I doubt they receive much traffic. I am led to believe the way most domainers now go about things is to put content on the sites and try and get the sites up the google league table which obviously puts more value onto the domain. Is that right???

Unfortunately for me in addition to my domain pasttime I have 3 jobs, 3 kids under the age of 5 and little or no time in my life. Hence my reason for now just wanting to just dispose of my domains for what I believe to be reasonable prices. I just dont have the time to fill my domains with content and to be honest besides the amateur world of MS Frontpage I havent much of a clue on content. Putting google ads on my domains and earning 5p every other month doesnt really float my boat.

You can almost hear the violin music playing! :(

Perhaps my best bet would be to sell the lot in bulk to someone who HAS the time?

Hi Godfrey,

We are only trying to help... :) forget that name and move on... :)

Why dont you try drop catching some better names? www.dropcatcher.co.uk is a great place to start and with deleting.co.uk showing drops in advance there is still hope to make a buck or two!

You tend to register free names that have been sat there since the start of the internet so its very unlikly that someone will be interested.. there are a few domainers that do have that eye for spotting a decent domain sat there free to reg... but in this day of age you will be very lucky indeed to get a half decent "free to reg"

Even try traffic names as they will make you a little cash to feed the little ones and its better if you can get a regular income every month.

Hope this helps and I am glad you are seeing sense :)

Thanks. I hear what you say. However my approach for the future is just going to revolve around the domains I currently have by way of getting rid of them.

I am looking for an escape route from the industry rather than getting further involved. What would be my chances of listing the 50-80 domains that I want to sell on, someone making a sensible offer and taking them off my hands?

List the domains here and we can pick the bones out of them and perhaps purchase 1 or 2?

You should also be tempted to park the domains you like and think have value and just renew them every 2 years. Someone may come along in 1/5/12 months from now and offer you the money you are looking for.

Flipping domains means they tend to go for small amounts. Selling at £££ prices normally means

a) you have had the domain a while and its a goodun
b) you have caught a cracker
c) someone decides they -need- your domain

This may take sometime and prob wont happen overnight.

I have to say I admire Godfrey's determination to plug away and not rise to some of the negativity that invades his threads. I also like the idea of price drops if names don't sell.

sunnyweather.co.uk could be a marketer's dream, but so could countless other travel related domains. And that's where the problem lies with this one.

If you want out why not list all of your names in one post (as others have done recently with some success) and see where the interest lies?

There you have it! :) Theres around 80 domains there and ideally I am looking for someone to put up an offer in the mid £x,xxx category and they can take the lot of my hands, develop them and sell on for profit or keep for revenue. If selling individually the price per will obviously be that bit higher.

If anyone is interested they can contact me via PM. If the traffic stats are not evident on the domain itself it will mean there are none available.

lol ok thanks for that decon! ;)

I would be happy to hear everyones opinion on a) whether any of the above are good enough to fetch an ok sale price even with minimal traffic eg in the £xxx-£x,xxx category and b) whether with the right content there could be good/excellent potential to earn from them.

On the negative side of things are there any that are so poor they are as well being dumped?

I may agree/disagree but any advice would be appreciated as my expertise is admittedly at the lower end of the spectum. If it is really really really negative comments you have then I'd appreciate if you sent your messages via PM because negativeness can be catching and may put off would be buyers! Thanks! :)

I may start a new thread called "Godfreys domains" copying that list and putting prices against each with that list reducing until all are sold. Would that be better than putting up individual domains?

Will you be renewing them all when they are due?

DB makes a good point - some probably aren't worth renewing, but I do like the following:

PrivateDentists.org.uk
PrivateDoctors.org.uk
PrivateHealth.org.uk
PrivateHealthcare.org.uk
ScottishBuilders.co.uk
ScottishBusiness.com

And I'm no fan of .org.uk usually, but it works well here.

Plus there are maybe half a dozen others with genuine appeal if that's your market.

Scottishbusiness.com in particular is a very good name Godfrey.

I plan on renewing most of them. Some certainly were errors on my part which I would imagine most domainers have registered crap in their time.

ScottishBusiness.com is certain among the cream of my crop and I wouldnt part with that for anything other than a 4 figure amount.

I have started a "Godfrey's domains" thread with prices. Like before they will keep reducing in price until all sold but at least it wont be multiple threads as before so as to not clutter up the forum with the same old domains.

Thanks for your comments Diablo
