Was reading Tim Ferris's blog recently and one of the things he put up was a screen shot of his blog before he got someone in to fix it up for him.

It was pretty horrific, very bright! Anyway got me thinking about the fact that everyone must start somewhere and its unlikely that your first site will be a master piece.

What was your first website? Was it awful?

Post a screen shot if you can or a link if you can!

Please tell me you had those 90s classics JavaScript page transitions too a different one for every page

Box in, Box out, Circle in, Circle out, Wipe up, Wipe down, Wipe right, Wipe left, Vertical blinds, Horizontal blinds, Checkerboard across, Checkerboard down, Random dissolve, Split vertical in, Split vertical out, Split horizontal in, Split horizontal out, Strips left down , Strips left up, Strips right down, Strips right up, Random bars, horizontal Random bars, vertical Random

A classic every one of them...

Mine wasn't too horrendous thankfully. I'd built a shop in 2003 using osCommerce and left it pretty plain except for the product pictures. Should have carried on with it but the products were a bit of a grey area legally so didn't want the potential hassle.

For some reason, I don't have a copy of the front page any more, but here's one of the inside pages as of 29 September 1996 (minus a couple of little graphics that are no longer with us)

The first site I built (below) was for the Canadian telephone company I was working for at the time, I remember being very pleased with it! It was one of the first commercial .com's in Canada.

Before that, just three years earlier, I was in my house talking to my brother via computer. It was an X86 machine with a 1440 baud modem (not K, just baud) and it had an orange monitor. We were connected directly by dialling each other. As he typed, the orange letters appeared one by one on my screen. No windows, just dos. I thought it was the future, technology just doesn't get more advanced than this!
