What would you do if you won the lottery ?

You have just found out you have won £5m on the lottery - what would you do ?

No silly answers, looking for people's genuine thoughts etc just out of curiosity

Just in case you have something you wish to tell us Frank.. I'd obviously give you half.

If I did I'd make sure nobody knew, would only cause trouble, so a holiday home would be bought, more holidays taken and under the cover of a good domain sale which would explain perhaps a nice new toy car. That aside some anonymous donations and some friends would probably 'seem' to be hitting some luck winning the odd competition they couldn't remember entering. I'd carry on doing what I do because I enjoy it.

It's not enough for me to wander off and do nothing.... How dull would that be if you have an entrepreneurial mind...

Besides.... Even at 3% that's only £150k of interest before tax.... It's not too hard with some effort, time and investment to make that anyway... So you can live like a millionaire without being one... (Credit 4hww for that )

Having never bought a ticket, this will never happen, but if I had won, I think I'd ensure my parents & close family were financially secure and then probably buy a decent plot of land that would let me keep pigs (don't ask why, but I just fancy keeping pigs ) other than that, probably continue more or less as normal (without the worry of paying the bills each month)

A 500k house 500k on spending 500k on a business and the rest in the bank so I have some regular finance in the form of interest.

Spend 50% on the geo network I'm working towards building, and bank the rest for a rainy day. Of course some would go to family and close friends, but it would probably be more "prudent" to use my windfall and multiply it through some hopefully shrewd business moves rather than just go splashing out with it...

Thanks. However, I already have a "theoretical shopping list" (names that I know would be for sale, with prices that I'm aware of) that's into 7-figures, so there's still plenty of opportunity to expand! Of course, without that hypothetical lottery win, it's going to have to be at a MUCH slower pace :wink:
