Apart from the option of none - which I am expecting - I am looking at building a directory minisite for affiliate / adsense earnings and have the option of:

bluewidgets.me.uk
blue-widgets.org.uk
bluewidgetsuk.org.uk

The domain / keyword in question has over 200k local exact and with the 'uk' suffix reduces down to <10k exacts but of course can still target the main keyword in SEs

What would you go for - any past experience you've had from a SE perspective?

If it's a serious venture and you're going to be investing lots of time, I'd fork out more and get a better domain. You'd be kicking yourself if you eventually manage to build up a lot of traffic and get a good income if you were stuck with a crap domain. Of those 3 domains, I wouldn't touch the .me.uk with a barge pole, and I'd say blue-widgets.org.uk is better than bluewidgetsuk.org.uk. Isn't something like bluewidgetsuk.co.uk or ukbluewidgets.co.uk available instead?

It's not a hugely serious venture (would only do .co.uk or .com for that) and won't really take much of my time.

Unfortunately things like ukbluewidgets.co.uk and bluewidgetsuk.co.uk (and lots of other variations) were all taken a while ago

have to disagree with jasman on blue-widgets.org.uk, i'd go for the hyphen less version; bluewidgets.org.uk (thinking about people typing in the url, they may not remember the hyphen, also what if someone else regged the non hyphen version?

I would go for a .co.uk. There are plenty of other good prefixes and suffixes possible apart from -uk.

Rgds

I wouldnt even contemplate building a site on anything other that a .co.uk

In fact, I wouldnt build a site unless I had the name both with and with the hyphen

I just wouldnt have the energy or desire to put effort into something that had so much traffic leakage

Thanks all.

I was tempted with the suggestion of other prefix / suffixes (i.e. topbluewidgets.co.uk etc..) but the domain is geograpgphical in nature so the UK actually fits...
