I realise you may be operating from home and not want to put landline tel and address on the site, but unless that is there, I never buy from a site. It's also going to need the names of the people running the shop to instill confidence.

If you are prepared to, photos of the people running the site will add trust too.

It's all about trust if someone is going to make a purchase online. If you don't show who you are, I doubt many will buy from you.

I would also move into some products that have higher margin. I'm not being dismissive, but if you're selling something for £1.20, you're going to a lot of effort processing the order and probably making say £0.60, it's going to be a lot of effort for not a lot of return.

Hope that helps.

Cheers for the reply accelerator all very good points.
We were wondering if she should put phone number address on it, so I think that should be done.
As for the product prices, shes quite happy with them (at the moment) as she gets it all for next to nothing anyway, but is in the middle of sorting out some more "pricey" items so the returns on those will be greater.

Cheers again its much appreciated.

If you are going to make any sales, you are really going to have to do a fair bit of creative marketing, what have you got planned?

Rgds

To be honest Im staying as far away from it as I can, its not my thing and I dont really want to get involved, the rest is down to her (thats the plan anyway) but of course I am open to all ideas that I can pass on to her ;)

Well, not that I'm an expert in fashion, but I would suggest photo blogging with "looks" created from the accessories in order to generate traffic and potential sales.

Rgds

Lol don't worry Caz this is acorn I'm fully prepared to be bombarded with "it's sh2t ditch it and start again" but any constructive comments are welcome :D

I like the idea of the pink and indicating 'girly' - many visitors will like that.

I do think it's very strong though and for me, quite glaring. I've always found pink colours very hard to work with personally and have found that more pastel pink colours look better perhaps? :)

The logo could be better, cleaner too perhaps?

Good luck with it Mrs Boxerdog.

I think its great. Functionality is good, and will really appealing to women.

Just a few things I think could enhance the site a little:

As Alien said - maybe more pastel colours and better logo

The special offers could be on the front page rather than a link maybe to attract more customers as its just been launched.

Change the main header with the logo to a large image with some of the products possibly with an auto scroller with a smaller logo in top left corner.

Sorry for being a bit critical, hope this helps

Harry

Well I'm back.

Wrong colours.

Wrong text.

Wrong people advising you.

You can obviously build stores and I bet make them a success, but, the products are tat. Women will not be regular visitors to this site.

These are eBay quality products.

If you got rid of the awful colour scheme and realise that your copy is diabolical and should be totally rewritten, took the products out of the cheap bags and photographed them in a professional manner and placed on a nice clean site, you have half a chance.

Please do not continue as you are as the road ahead has a big stop sign.

There are some lovely clean free shop templates out there that if you put nice pictures on would look fabulous.

My girls spend fortunes in CA and the bag I leave with weighs less than a packet of crisps. So people do buy tat if it's presented well.

As you probably know most of the stuff you have listed will only last a few weeks and in the real world people don't take stuff back like this. But online you may find that people do and returned products and a loss of postage will kill your cash flow and no matter how much you have had shipped from china will not save you having to car boot it eventually :)

Take a step back and do some research outside friends and family and people on forums.

For starters I like the logo but I think the girly bit needs to be more refined, it seems a bit fuzzy.

Has already said, the amount she makes will be low but what if after a while she adds like hairdryers for better money.

Maybe add Beaver hair products :p

I think it's accessorize, I know that looks American but I think it's spellt with the Z even in English language.

You seem to be getting better at making websites and much better than the SB site you made her some time ago.

Good luck with her venture

Thanks for al the tips, its much appreciated.
Im playing around with the colors as they were a bit in your face so will tone them down and will see what I can do to enhance the logo.

My god Caz why do you have to be so damning!!! ;) only joking.
I guess you are right when you say these are Ebay products as they do sell very well on there, I think she has sold almost 80 products on there since the start of March this is why I decided to build her a site, plus she has sold quite a few to the mothers at school so there is no problem with the quality of the products (that she doesnt get from china)
One thing that I do need to sort out is the photos, trying to get them looking good with a nice background etc is more tricky than it should be.

@Doodlebug dont knock the SB my friend ;)

Thanks again for all the input, I think its always going to be a "work in progress" site with new content/products etc so hopefully can only get better over time.

I have to agree with Caz on this.
The products are only good for Ebay & Amazon, While its worth having a website for the sake of a web presence, i cant see you selling anything via the website so you can just get away with a 1 page mini site with contact details and use it link to Ebay & Amazon.

A friend of mine had a similar scenario selling thousands of tax disc holder stickers on Ebay each week, he built a website and only sold a handful a month. I might be wrong but I think its a "sundry product" that people would only buy on a whim whilst buying other stuff, rather than hunting it down to buy, so ebay is the best place for it.

If you choose to persist, take note that there are too many clashes of pink going on there. If you REALLY want to use a pink, pick 1 shade and find the complimentary colours - here is a good tool for that

I think you will be better off putting your efforts towards getting the stock listed on Amazon - see here to check if its worth it for low value items

Hope i wasn't too damning - Good luck with it ;)

Cheers for the color scheme fresh I will take a look.

As for all comments about the products they are pretty pointless and irrelevant to be honest.

The success of your web site is predicted by yourself above.

I thought the information was a bit of a gift and would love feedback like that, any business would surely.

As for amazon looks like if you go that route you could give them away for free and still make 300% profit just from the postage share.

I only said the comments about the "products" were irrelevant as I have nothing to do with them, and never asked for any comments about them to start with.

All info regarding the "site" is a gift and is very much appreciated.

I have passed on the idea of selling through Amazon so thats out of my hands "thank god"

:D

I think it looks OK but would think about sharpening up the header. As mentioned before the logo could be cleaner and I would make it smaller. This would give space to add the contact details on the right hand side (installs trust). I would also agree with the fact that the pinks are a little brash? and pastel pinks would work better. Layout wise I think you're good to go.

Honestly I don’t like the color…too much pink…though it’s a girly color…lol…better use a different color…girls’ websites need not to be pink or red all the time…

web design: girls like pink and hello kitty! just add some hello kitty and you are safe.

seo: great alexa rank for so few backlinks. A serious site like this should have no problem getting more good backlinks.
