Wordpress Advice

I am about to start a project that will allow users to purchase and download ebooks from my site. (Not the get rich quick rubbish, but genuine ebooks).

I would also like a facility to allow the user to enter their email address to recieve more information.

Can someone tell me if this can all be done with Wordpress or am I looking at full on web design products.

Not sure on Wordpress, but you could use a shopping cart software like oscommerce which doesn't take that much to set up...

cubecart will probably better suit your needs. Of Magento commerce if you want a 'better' version of oscommerce.

There are actually very simple shopping plugins for wordpress which you could use too. Wordpress can do almost anything you want, just depends how complicated you want to get

Ok, thanks guys.

I kind of think its all a bit of overkill for me.

I just need a single page with a few links to enable downloadable ebooks for a price. These carts seem to do/look/feel more than I need.

But Ill keep looking around.

how about just using wordpress to show content / static html pages and a few paypal button links or better yet, Google checkout.

If you plan on spending a bit on adwords to advertise your site then you can't go wrong with Google Checkout as it will mean 0% processing fees.

However, there is a site (which i am trying to remember the name of) that helps you do all this including the automated delivery of the ebook. Will post if I find it.
