What are the worst, most pointless, irrelevant domain names you've seen being marketed online??

I'll kick off with:

www.redspottedhanky.com - WTF?? Just seen this on TV.... unreal...

Health-on-line .co.uk springs to mind. They were advertising quite heavily on TV recently, can't believe they threw money at TV advertising with such a poor choice of domain.

I think Aviva would have been better to use one of the well respected names they were already known by, Norwich Union, Commercial Union, General Accident, they were even household names as NU, CU, GA.

Now they sound like a rusty old car.

Regards

Bruce

I don't think redspottedhanky is that bad. I can see the relevance to the service. Still think make-a-swisssh is the worst.

trivago.co.uk seems a poor choice of name to me

I think it's to match their poor adverts:

(Shows slim beauty relaxing) She paid £115
(Shows slightly simple-looking fat mess in a rubber ring) You pay £73

It then makes it easy to remember the the domain trivago

TREE - VAR - GO

Is there a little rhyme I can use to remember that obscure name?

SEARCH - COMPARE - GO

No relevance whatsoever

with you on that scott.... insane to use a URL like that!

How about...
http://www.adestra.com/
http://www.apppli.com/
http://credorax.com/
http://www.dotcom-monitor.com/ (fails the "radio test" badly)
http://www.dotdigitalgroup.com/ (ditto)
http://www.egentic.com/

and so on? They're all companies that will be exhibiting at Internet World 2012 i.e. who will have spent in the order of low-to-mid £xx,xxx on a stand, plus thousands more on kitting it out, staffing it, producing brochures etc... Yet, from their names,

A) Have you ANY idea what they do?

B) Do you think ANYONE seeing their URL across a busy tradeshow floor will remember them again? I'd venture not one person will out of the 11,000 expected attendees!

Those are just a few of the more car crash-y examples, but as is typical there are a bare handful of exhibiting firms out of 100+ which have even the slightest semblance of a sensible name (or a sensible URL). What a staggering waste of money!

The worst has to be the dogsdoohahs.com it's a funky pigeon type site, today I came across this > and-thekitchensink.co.uk with 1 hyphen, god knows how they decided to put the hythen there ?

Was going to mention 'Achica' too, along with 'Cocosa'.

The latter was advertising on the radio quite heavily last year. First time I heard it I was wondering how it would be spelt. Fast forward a few weeks later, I heard the same company advertising but with a new advert which actually spelt it out "c-o, c-o, s-a".

Wonder how many potential visitors they lost in that time! :)
