As a relative newbie to trying catch .co.uk names, please forgive me, but why the hell do people leave it until the last possible moment to renew their names?.
I have hade a few where they renew a day or two before it drops?, what is wrong with these people!? , i am so frustrated.

For visibility to the market and to start such discussions such as this. Tagnames have already confirmed as such.

I can not understand why someone would risk losing their name, by not renewing at the earliest possible opportunity, you never know what may happen to you if you only leave yourself a day or two to renew.

To induce a reaction like that. What name/s were you trying to catch if you don't mind me asking?

I'm guessing it started with "a" and ended in "uctions.co.uk" :)

    lol

    yes, was risky
main registrars often (like 123) delete from your account when they renewed.
ie a day earlier, so was a very dangerous game

maybe it was the amount of emails they got ;) asking to sell it
    lol

some other sly bugger got the other one starting with 'a'
prob picked up the phone

i had no chance of catching either so make no odds
i would like one of these to go to someone new to catching though, be a nice little windfall, rather than to usual suspects

Actually I went physically to the address in question to try for that domain a couple of years back, got very short shrift from the accountancy firm there who refused to take a message or pass one on to the actual owners of the domain. I also tried sending a greeting card (at xmas - I'm not that weird!) in the hope of getting a message passed on that way, but again nothing.

I seem to remember there are quite a few premium domains registered to that address. Same client maybe?

or the other one starting with "a", but ending in "ccident.co.uk", which was renewed the day before.

Yes those mentioned were two of the names , there have also been a couple of others that have gone the same way.

All part of the fun i guess.

I phoned Michael of auctions.co.uk/weddings.co.uk/etc and had a conversation with him, domains were not going to drop and are not going to drop, he had renewed it the day before I phoned and I didn't get the impression he had sold it.

The one beginning with "A" and ending in "uctions.co.uk" would never have dropped. Like others I have spoke to the owner before as well and there seemed to be no motivation to sell that, or any of their other premium names at the time.
