Sedo great domains auction

And another….

Unfortunately, after a detailed assessment, the following domains have not qualified (the specific reason is indicated in parentheses after each domain):
- Elements.co.uk (Quality requirements not met)

Madrid and Advice are premium quality domains in my opinion. Should be in the auction.

(Again in my opinion).

grafitti.co.uk is a typo too! I noticed it in the mediaoptions sales letter a while back at some ridiculous price. If you're going to spend £1k-£5k on a domain in a premium auction you'd at least expect to be getting the correct spelling!

Sedo's own guidelines for accepting names:

"The domain is easy to spell and not prone to typographical errors"

Looking at the list:
madrid.co.uk - Capital city of Spain. Why should this be particularly desirable within .uk? If it was spain.co.uk then much better, particularly with Spain being a very popular British tourist destination. I checked Barcelona.co.uk and it's parked.
I think it can be argued that with the exception of Paris, Madrid is possibly the top destination for a city break in Europe. It is also joint (with Barcelona) as the most popular overseas football break destination.

- wjf.co.uk (Quality requirements not met)

imo sedo are right there - they're not great domains. Your Madrid definitely was... random 3 letters do nothing for me though.

It seems bizarre to me that they won't let Madrid in.

Apparently this name isn't good enough either!

In the past every LLL was always allowed in. They just reduced the reserve for ones they did not like.

Love it Mark, at last someone who has the same popularity level at Sedo as me :D

Would really like to see the feedback from a Sedo UK rep.

WTAF they have let in a typo but won't allow the it domain?

Not letting IT in is a Joke must be some sort of automated system

But if you are going to reduce the reserves on the ones you don't like to £500 or so to make them purchasable... (domainprices.co.uk as reference), its hardly a 'great domains auction' any more is it?

I'd have rather they kept the good shit in there, like Madrid etc. Then I've been happy to keep receiving the emails and see if I see anything of personal interest. But fill it with crap (like they done) and I'm hitting the unsubscribe button.

All these rejected listings, why not put them up on Acorn? I doubt Sedo would bring more eyeballs than this community (specifically .uk extension).

I will do, cheers Foz. I was just highlighting what appears to be double standards when Domcollect get their names in and other domain names seem to be excluded. They might as well rename it DomcollectAuction.

What's the highest serious offer you've ever turned down for it.co.uk?

Sorry didn't spot this yesterday - the highest offer we've turned down to date has been mid xx,xxx plus VAT.

Low xx,xxx offers turned down from a few fellow domain investors here too.

Mark

Domcollect are a subsidiary of Sedo IIRC...

Hi Guys

We regret to inform you that the Great Domains application for it.co.uk was rejected in error. The domain owner has been contacted and arrangements made to rectify the matter.

Our assessment process for accepting domains into the Great Domains auction is particularly stringent in order to preserve a level of high class domains that our buyers have come to expect from the Great Domains brand.

Experienced members look at various factors to determine which domains should be accepted into the auction. It may help to consider; who would purchase a particular domain and how they would monetise it. For these reasons domains that appear of exceptional quality at first appearance, like one word generics, may not have a specific end user or monetisation method. Outside of generic ‘brandable’ names.

We actively encourage sellers to forward any very high quality names for our auctions. If your domain doesn’t get through for quality reasons please do not be put off, there are still many ways to promote your domains on Sedo.

Happy selling and good luck.

Kind Regards

Dildeep Singh

Sedo's Great Domains Auction is for generic names, not geo stuff...how many city, places or country names have you seen listed?

I submitted about 60 domains (only .com and .net) and 45 of these were accepted.
