I have just finished watching this series, i'm still trying to get my head around it. Currently rated 9.4 on IMDB and rightly so http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5189670/. This is supposed to be a true story but i'm still trying to work out if any of it was actually staged.

It's true - both men are in prison for a murder they clearly didn't commit, in Steven Avery's case for a second time. When I first started watching it I thought it was staged too...I couldn't get my head around just how openly and obviously corrupt the Sheriff's department there actually are and the ingrained prejudices of the jurors and community.

I watched it last week, some parts were unbelievable.

The bit where the cop called in about the missing car but somehow knew the make, model and year before the operator told him.

It was quite clear the younger lad was a bit slow, the bit where he said "now draw her being raped"

the same judges and police involved with all of it too.

I really enjoyed watching this series, i got hooked over christmas. I was a firm believer that he was framed for this and innocent until i delved a little deeper online and found out there's more to the story than the series told so i'm on the fence just now.

Either way it was an excellent documentary.

Yes, definately great viewing, I watched the series over 3 nights.
I came to the conclusion it was probably created to provide publicity for the defense. So, in my mind was trying to allow for bias.
Can you provide any links to the further info you came across?

I did actually delve a little deeper for a couple of days after i watched this series. Found one of the prosecutors personal twitter, the guy who was supposed to be defending Brandon and also heard rumors that Steven Avery had prior convictions like setting a cat on fire. Maybe this documentary was biased towards the Avery family, but if i remember right the original jury verdict was 7 innocent, 3 guilty, 2 undecided, so how that ended up guilty i don't know.

It's pretty obvious the evidence was shady, i mean where was Steven supposed to of shot the victim or committed the crime?, even a professional team of forensics surely couldn't of cleaned that place up with so little dna/evidence. Who knows, i'm still mostly in favor of innocent, but could be wrong.

I cam across this phone transcript, a call from Brendan to his mother.

If there is any truth in it then apparently Steve Avery used to "touch" him inappropriately which doesn't paint a great picture of him.

There is another transcript where Brendan admits he helped Steve clean a puddle of blood in the garage, they even found his jeans covered in bleach.

Stevens brothers also have a long history of battery and sexual abuse against women, another fact conveniently missed from the documentary.

I do still think the cops helped plant evidence to make sure he went in though.

Thanks, will take a look at that later.
Must have been really tough on the jury on a case like this.
Of course they also had the preconceptions from the media to try and filter out.
I've never been called for jury duty, but it must be a nightmare.

Looks like the media attention from the series may be backfiring on the defence.
Just seen a video of Avery's Mrs, who now states he is not innocent!
Whether genuine, pressure or backhander ??
Either way this just keeps getting more & more messed up.
