Hi all,

Domain just points to 123-Reg, cannot see the owner via whois, nothing in Google for the domain.

Any ideas?

Cheers!

Generally, due to various data protection laws etc you can't. However, if you let us know the domain then the community here maybe able to help or they may own it themselves or have a better one to offer you.

But 123-Reg, like Fasthosts and others, assumed the rights of their .co.uk customers who had not taken up their .uk registration and have taken tens of thousands of quality domains off the market for now and the domain your interested in maybe one of those.

I don't know if Nominet members can access that info in their control panel ???

Phil,

I was aware that Fasthosts had done that, but I wasn't aware 123-reg had, because they were actively catching .uk domains for people other than the .co.uk registrants through the Nominet release of names July 1-5.

I stand to be corrected on this if I'm wrong.

Yes, Sorry, Fasthost did but I suspected that 123-reg had ( but no proof sorry ) because there was similar activity to Fasthost over a few days, but I could be wrong on this. But if I remember correctly I think somebody mentioned that GoDaddy had done the same and there was some discussion about whether or not GoDaddy would let them drop after 12 months or do what I suspect is renew them in their own name, assume ownership and auction them off themselves.

Also, on a slightly different note, I had a reply to a Nominet support ticket about some registration issues I had and Nominet divulged in the email that Fasthosts had signed up to offer catches to their customers too but decided not to take part for some reason in the end.
