Am I the only one who uses Acorn to sell my shit domains and websites? Looking at the domains on offer I think I am not.

Admin... How about introducing a fee to list a domain or website?

I guess it would stop people from advertising crap names and it would bring in a bit of money.

If we're moaning then I might as well join in..

I'm surprised sometimes in the domain wanted section how bad or irrelevant some of the replied domains are

I'm also surprised at some of the domains allowed in the premium section that are nowhere near x,xxx

There was a name in there recently which failed to sell at DL (not even a £50 bid)!!!

That was one of the main ones in my mind but I like Ian so didn't want to be too specific

It's not his fault. I've had domains refused from the premium section in the past.

If any money is paid for listing a domain it should be a percentage of the sale price, not just for listing it.

One mans junk is another man's treasure they say.... (something like that?)

We dont want to turn into ebay where you are charged for every click of your bloody mouse!

Maybe for the Premium Domains section. If listing fee is introduced, users will move 'elsewhere' to list there names for free.

This site is not a dump ..... very valuable in all its aspects.

;) Peer pressure...just kidding, not sure myself, just asked and got. As it turns out, it isn't a great domain :D

Mostly, audience on here won't pay decent, end user prices for domains. So any domains for sale here is from desperate sellers, sellers shifting domains they don't need, or sellers listing their premium domains because it's too easy to do but not expecting a sale.

I think that's a pretty fair assessment.

If you charge then nobody is going to list.

9 of the 20 on the first page of the 'premium' domains aren't worth 4 figures imo. They should never have been listed in that section in the first place.

It's very hard for me to qualify domains for the Premium section these days, and members get grumpy with me when I refuse so always a difficult conversation.

If anyone has any ideas on how to moderate that forum better let me know.

If I charge to list domains no-one will do it IMO.

Might not be a bad thing.

Turn the place back into forum about domains instead of a domain sales site. I know I won't be listing any more.

Why would it matter? The domain sales are all in their own sub forums... if you don't want to see them then its easy not to. Its not going to add anything to the forum by removing them is it?

A lot of premium domains that are available on the open market today, are subjective. For example, there was one that was advertised recently, that alot of people were saying how great a catch it was, such a great name, blah, blah and personally I thought it was worth £50 at most. I know if I said anything against the xx,xxx asking price, I would have been told how naive I was, and how I don't know anything......

But most of the premium domains are tied up, and held by the Hughs and Denys of the world, who will very rarely let a premium one drop.

Getting back to your point, about how best to improve it, I don't know how many people currently moderate that forum, but here's my idea:

Have at least 3 mods who can approve threads in that forum.

That way, if all 3 ignore it, its quite clearly not a premium domain.
If its subjective as to yes / no premium, one of the 3 mods will approve it.
If its a definite, it won't be long before its live.

Slap a sticky in there explaining that, and then add NO APPEALS WILL BE LISTENED TO :)

I know you like to be an antagonistic soab, comes with the territory, but if you've been here as long as I have you'll understand the point when you click on 'new posts' and 90%+ are sales threads.

Many of the members from the prenom days don't post here any more. There are myriad reasons for that, and this is one of them.

I’d bet very few of the premium listed over the years have ever sold the mere fact there listed often means there not ;)
