So I'm new to all this stuff but I would have thought that setting up an adsense account would be pretty easy. Seems it doesn't agree with me!

Verifying the account, they deposited £0.28 and when I put the value in to verify it tells me i'm wrong!

This is seriously frustrating, I'm not wrong!! On top of this I can't get anyone to speak too! This is my 2nd time of trying.

Anyone any ideas?

Be sure you are answering the question correctly.
Is the answer £0.28, or 0.28, or 28 ?
Regards
Bruce

£0.28 doesn't fit.

0.28 didn't work and 28 didn't work either!

got a new deposit sent to the account as this one got blocked.

Really no idea what I'm doing wrong here

Managed to find a contact form ( was pretty difficult to find) and I have contacted them, although they don't provide space to tell them what has gone wrong.

Could be interesting. Extremely frustrating!

wait until the close your account when its full of money and dont give you an explanation... now thats frustrating :)

welcome to the world according to google

now they are telling me that my account does not exist.

Yes actually it DOES!!!

So i got a new test deposit of £0.50, I tried that and guess what that doesn't work either!

This is really starting to piss me off!

Is there anyway I can actually speak to a human being to see if someone can fix this?

Sounds like the payments to your account, and what show on the database against your profile are out of synch

Like many big online companies speaking to a human being who know how to help is seen as an unnecessary, inconvenient and costly annoyance by the big boys - so your chances are slim

Can you not start again with a brand new account, the 'reset' may do the trick?

I have tried resetting my bank account a couple of times but I guess I'm going to need a completely new Adsense account.

I'll have a look at this when I get home from work

ITS WORKED!

I think I was impatient tbh. I just left it a couple of days tried again and hey presto its working... i think!

The verification process was different as far as I remember. You need a 4-digit number sent to you by mail.

Still the same.

Or at least, it was like that a couple of months ago.

Had to set up a second account as my first one was closed without a valid reason... Luckily I moved to another country and had a new bank account ;)

ok so now they've verified my account and blank adds are showing on my site. What do I need to do to get this to progress to having real ads on?

Do I just wait and let google crawl the site?

Ads should appear fairly quickly.

This post was a few days ago - just checked your site and can't see any?

If you still have the code in place then it may not be working because of your wordpress settings or robots.txt information.

It's happened to me before because of those 2 things.

Check wordpress settings - http://www.ehow.com/how_8545566_block-spiders-wordpress-install.html

I would guess you are blocking access to the google spider with this:

User-agent: *
Disallow: /wp-admin/
Disallow: /wp-includes/

Google needs access to determine content and ad relevancy.

Try this - http://support.google.com/adsense/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=10532

would it be because I am using a plugin to place the adds?

I doubt it.

Have you tried this yet?

http://support.google.com/adsense/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=10532

(your robots txt is still showing the old settings)

That should fix it, if you have already checked the wordpress settings.

Just change it via your cpanel or ftp client.

Post back here and let me know if it works (or not) and I can provide other suggestions.

You can also go into your header code and amend it there directly or via a seo plugin.

Try the robots.txt first.

I think I have now made those changes so I hope to see some adds soon!

I still can't see ads on your site.

Obviously something is going wrong there.

Without access to your wordpress setup I can't properly identify the issue.

There are seo plugins that allow you to include additional home/page/post headers.

'Platinum SEO Pack' is one I've used before.

Install that, then try the robots code in there - go into the plugin settings to make the change, was near the bottom of page last time I checked.

That worked for me when the ads weren't showing correctly.

Give it a try and let me know.

If it doesn't work I can go into your wordpress admin and check other stuff?

----

Try this code in the 'Platinum SEO Pack' settings if it still doesn't work.

<META name="ROBOTS" content="INDEX,FOLLOW">

More on this here - http://www.searchtools.com/robots/robots-meta.html

If all that doesn't work it could be a theme setting that is messing the ads up? Contact the developer and inquire there.

You could also uninstall the plugin and put the adsense code in a post to see if it is showing. If it is then the plugin may be to blame.
