If I link to a particular book at amazon and someone goes to that book from my site affil link but then navigates to another book and buys it, do I still earn or only if they buy the book i linked to?

I know some sites it is via cookie so i'd get paid if they purchased anything on the site in the next XXdays

You should still get commission on any sales that originate through your links as long as the purchase is within the cookie lifetime (which I think is very short for Amazon). I've got sales showing that are for books not directly linked from any of my sites.
