Bad taste

I have a one-year-old and she means the world to me. When I think about what Maddys parents must b e going through it makes me shiver.

I also feel that they are to partly to blame for leaving 3 small children alone but I will put those feelings to the back of my mind until that stunning little girl is bought home safe and sound.

It's a sick society. A sick abductor and now a sick domain investor. If the parking companies track down the individuals responsible (and they should use all efforts) then they should ban them for life from parking with them. For too long some parking companies have allowed bad practices, and bad domains to be be parked and this only encourages these type of domainers. I remember once complaining about the domain rape._ which was being sold and being highlighted on the home page of one of the parking companies to be told 'our systems are automated little we can do about it'. It's time they scoured through their parked domains, weed out the sick ones, and turn away from the porn (as Google have just done).

I pray that little Madeleine is found. I don't hold out much hope as the days tick by. We've got to guard our little ones in this dangerous society.

Might be some good news

News report today says that someone has possibly seen the girl in Morocco with a man approx 30 years of age.

So there maybe some good news if the reports are correct.

If the child has been stolen to order then theres every chance that shes alive, rather than not being stolen to order in which case things would be very bad indeed.

Looking at the map this does seem to very visable as reasonably its a drive and a hop onto a boat and across into Africa.

Would make more sense than heading towards Europe and the civilized World where police forces all across Europe would be on the look out for her.

If this is true there has to be question marks over how this could occur

I did hear that the little girl said "when can I see mummy"

But sedo you sado and hosting companies deal with thousands of registrations a day and do not sit at a computer dealing with each registration.

So honestly wake up and smell the coffee and do not blame sedo you saddo or domain hosting companies for not vetting applications for domains and domain parking or sales etc etc.

wtf???
What kind of statement is that to make?

I completely blame Sedo for allowing the domain on their servers. Sedo are profiteering. Sedo should police their own servers. It is they who are making money from the name parked on their servers.

I think it is time you woke up and smelled the coffee. Sedo banned all adult names with the word "teen" in it in one swoop. It would be incredibly easy for them to do the same with the word Madeleine (and different typos) in it (or ViginiaTech etc). They don't have to ban them, they just have to be screened by a human before being accepted.

Simple really, you simpleton.

Your statement is rediculous. Thats like saying you cant blame Ebay for letting someone sell guns through their system.

Sedo need to police their own servers.

Sedo flagged a baby-clothes site of mine as "adult" because it has the word "babe" in it, I am not even sure how to change it back and now it shows porn links all over it.

I agree, yes they are capable and should police thier own servers.

I would just like to agree with the main sentiments in this thread - sad situation for sure, and parking companies do have a responsibility over domains parked on their systems.

People register the domains with the aim of making money - either by resale or by knowing they will be high traffic for a short period. Parking companies can cut out that incentive right away.

I would be all for Sedo taking over the parking and putting a redirect to the 'official' site.

***************** - it seems the whois has been opted out since) registered SteveIrwin.co.uk (Old thread here: http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/general-board/9959-steve-crocodile-irwin-dies-2.html ) on the day he died and has been profiting from the traffic ever since. For several weeks after the traffic was very large, and sadly was free to register earlier in the day. I have been tempted to purchase the name (Initial bid was under the required amount!) and point it towards the related charity however I dont believe in rewarding the people who like to profit from tragedy so did not want to pay several hundred quid.

It is always the same, the recent Virginia Tech shootings saw a pile of names registered and various other events have seen similar reactions.

Personally I will be aiming to register similar names in the future to ensure they get used correctly in the right manner and I would encourage any domainer to do the same. Anyone who wants DNS / webforwarding to do this give me a shout.

Cheers,
Rob.

The alarm (Worldwide) wasnt really raised for two days so in respects you could drive top to bottom of the UK within a day so they had driving time.

If the child has been stolen to order then they might be money and resources available to do things so dont really need to look at car transport.

Could be a boat or plane at someones disposal.

There has been a few programs regarding the abduction of child and the price people pay for a child usually around £200,000.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this, but the typosquat story is front page news in the Daily Mail today.

I see the UK companies whos adverts are appearing are mortified. I'm sure google will be policing a lot harder in the future. I hope Sedo follow.

(Madeleine's Fund : Leaving No Stone Unturned '

Fund Set Up to assist in finding Madeleine.

Text "MADDIE" to 60999 and £1 will be taken from your phone (53p will go to the Madeleine Fund). (Standard network charges may apply)

I find this very distastefull you should not ask for money but a simple please donate would do the same job

What next Google add words on it.

Your recent offer of 100 GBP for steveirwin.co.uk has met the seller's reserve and the seller has decided to hold a public auction for the domain. Your offer of 100 GBP will be used as the starting bid and reserve price. If the seller does not receive a higher offer during the auction period your offer of 100 GBP, which remains binding for seven days from your initial offer, will be accepted for sale.

Now the traffic is down a fair bit he doesnt want xxx-xxxx for it. Fingers crossed :)
