Who banned @invincible and why ?

Is it a bit hot down there in the Mediterranean ?

Probably because he's constantly rude, unhelpful, and brings nothing to the community. Also taking up deliberately contrary positions to cause an argument and then making snide comments and personal insults veiled as 'intelligent'? I don't know who banned him (although couldn't it only be one person?) but I won't miss him - I can't be the only one.

Spot on. I also don't know who banned him, but I concur 100% about his disruptive qualities. Every single Nominet thread without fail since he became a non-exec director has been derailed thanks to his tenacious, battering arguments.

Anyway, he's gone now, so that's that.

Nominet have their own forums where you can go and be lied to and patronised if you miss him that much Just look back through his last posts (if you can stomach it) to see exactly how 'interesting' he was and what he brought to the forum. You'll be surprised at the predictive shallowness from someone who is paid to say what he says but with his own flavour of condescension and thinly veiled insults if you think he ever did anything else for the community.

I've always read it as him playing devils advocate to gain clarity on difficult subjects - hopefully for the greater good of most forum members? Admittedly hard to tell though.

I think people have lost sight of the fact it's not what he says (although that is *always* the same as the nominet propaganda that we see through) but *how* he says it. Anyway it's only for a month apparently so he'll be back helping you all out gracefully with a smile and a friendly word soon

I barely even remembered how different he was.

Almost like two completely different people, which is a shame as his insight and knowledge was interesting, lately, its been much the school run noise in the morning, I just filter it out.

So while I can understand your point that his writing style is some what combative (we all do that at times even you @RobM) he has always in my opinion posted what he feels to be accurate and factual. I’ve not seen anything offensive or abusive from him?

I’d rather know his view point than not know it at all and he does give a good insight in to the current view of Nominet on certain issues:

Also being a non-executive director of Nominet is a whole different issue. You don’t suddenly stop being yourself when you get elected to the board and turn in to a “yes” man. I can imagine from what the little information the NEDs are served up on their corporate iPads he wouldn’t agree with it all. The executive run the company not him and I’m sure he does challenge them in the board room six times a year!

I’ve been arguing on forums with David since 2000 and he’s always been the same. I’ll give him credit for standing up for what he believes in is right even though I don’t always agree with him.

No I'm openly rude when I want to be and then usually to only two people and it's not about opinions it's the way they are presented I don't have any time for people who hide behind semantics and use veiled abuse. It just so happens his opinions are usually identical to nominet's line anyway because I guess that's why he's paid to 'pretend' to be our link to nominet. Everything he posts can be summed up as 'nominet are ripping you off, they are allowing their favourite large registrars to rip you off, you know it, I know it, but I'll claim you don't have a clue when you point out the obvious.' Anyway he's been on my ignore list for years now but occasionally I made the mistake of reading a post and it's always the same old rubbish. I won't say anymore because it's clear I'm a minority here and there really is no point but I just feel that he adds *nothing* to the community and certainly is never here to help us with any issues or fairly represent us as he should be doing as an (overpaid) NED.

I rarely like what he has to say, but I think the forum is better with him.

I asked him in the recent .uk ROR thread if he was playing devil's advocate and he asked me to be more specific, I couldn't really be bothered to get in to it, but I think he is most of the time.

Didn't realise he was gone. I avoid most threads he's involved with, he's far to wordy for me and has far too much time on his hands. Reminds me a bit like my missus rattling on about stuff I can't be bothered to listen to when really all she needs to say was "yes that's correct" .

admin is obviously a better human than me...... I'd have permanently binned him with in weeks of taking over if it was me.
