After having 2 enquiries in 3 weeks I thought I would ask some others for appraisals on this pair of names.

I am not looking to sell quick or anything like that, but would appreciate your honest opinions.

We all know about the infamous cruises.co.uk sale at £560,000 :)

Great pair of domains, but you know my thoughts on them already Frank... so I'm going to leave others to shout the numbers out whilst I go and cry. :D

I would have thought the cheapcruises domain may be worth high £x,xxx or a bit more to an end user. I wouldnt have thought the high cruises.co.uk sale, would make this domain more valuable.

I totally agree on the previous sale not impacting this one (and that was for a site, not just a domain)

However, I think its a very valuable niche and they are 2 of the top search terms within that niche (I think they are only topped by cruise + cruise and cruisedeals)

The fact they are a pair makes them perfect for an end user, hence my valuation.

Would be difficult to get 50k for them but you never know, its not impossible, just have to wait for the right buyer, which could never come.

Thanks for the comments so far guys - I welcome other peoples also :)

@ Ashton - One one hand I think your valuation is possibly on the ambitious side, however taking lots of other things into the equation like -

- very valuable niche
- good search volume
- solid travel names in general sell for good money
- cruise names have achieved top money in the past
- the cruise industry is one of the fastest growing sectors in travel

then I would say it is achievable and possibly more depending on how the name is dealt with - eg a ranked site also :)

@ Mark - Your 'end user' valuation of high £x,xxx is quite low to be honest in my unbiased opinion, and both offers I have received have not been from end users and one was for £10k and the other for £15k.

@ Matt - lol sorry ! I would be interested to hear your actual value, as a total outsider though :)

Yeah, thats true.

Adding to my reason to valuation is the seller, Frank has another 'cheap' domain in a competitive area that he ranks very well for. I am sure he could do the same with these! Then the 50k would be fair I guess.

I got mid £xx,xxx for sledges.org.uk - not even I could have predicted that lol

If it was ranked in the same position as the one I think you are referring to (;-)), then £100k would be fairer and achievable :)

My valuation was around the mid five figure region undeveloped, although the trouble with that is getting someone to spend that much on just domains with no traffic or revenue. Get the plural ranking (as I'm sure you will) and I think you would have no trouble in selling the pair for low six figures...

Edit: @markb, high £x,xxx to an end user?! Too low even for a reseller price.

Frank, It was just my opinion, im no expert. Good luck and hope you get as much as you can for it. It wouldnt be a good domain for a developer to develop easily, but for someone in the holiday/cruises business, it would be a good one.

My take is that if you attempted to sell this now, market timing might be against you. The cheap cruise market will be severely affected by the current recession, whereas I would imagine the very high end luxury market will probably still be doing fine. Maybe it would be worth holding on until optimum conditions return?

Thanks Matt - thats pretty much my own thoughts on the plural and pretty much what I intend to do :)

Thanks Mark, I appreciate your opinion. Yes it isn't ideal for a developer to develop at present, but the guys at Sunshine.co.uk are currently working on something which will hit the cruise industry with a bang, so this will make it easier than it currently is.

Yes I tend to agree with you slightly. This will also go hand in hand with me probably working on the site to get it ranked front page, and then seeing how it goes from there.

Having said that, the findings from the real data I have, there are still plenty of people searching for cheap cruises on a daily basis.

FOR SLEDGES.ORG.UK!!!!!! What an incredible sale, was that via sedo?

Thanks :) No it was a direct approach from an end user - pm me if you like

Nice Sale on Sledges.org.uk Frank and also great cruise domains. I would have thought the sunshine guys would be a perfect buyers for those with there bonvoyage site.

I'd be happy getting 15-20K for those separately. I'd definitely try and develop and rank them first though.

I'm thinking of doing the same for my maldives.org.uk domain, hanging onto it for a bit more as it has great age.

Out of interest how did you negotiate mid £xx,xxx or did they come in with a good offer

:gd

Well if you got 40k or similar for sledges.org.uk then cheapcruises.co.uk is worth 400K :)

Just look at the adwords click prices for some of the cruise terms and you will see that even though affiliate income is hard right now, cruise domains have a bright future !

My only concern from a branding point of view is, do people actually want cheap cruises in the same way they want cheap flights ?. I think they want quality cruises at bargain prices, hence cruisedeals being a good brand.

Now is actually a good time for "cheap cruises" in the sense the cruise operators are pretty much committed to the huge capacities they have due to ordering huge new ships five years ago... so the prices are down with the increased capacity coming into the depressed market.
